Yeah, this story has been knocking around for about 10 years now and hasnt been verified either way.

Still, I dont doubt that child marriage takes place and that it's not a big issue for the girls that are being raped.

Funnily enough, child marriage is legal in some US states if the child is pregnant or has already given birth. Which is pretty screwed up to put it mildly.

Are child grooms a thing (lord I hope not just as much as I hope child brides aren't) is it just little girls that are forced into this, just little girls who've given birth that get forcibly married to American paedos?

They are, but to a lesser extent. Young girls tend to be married to older men, and there are financial reasons too, as a dowry is paid to the girl's family.
Underage boys is obviously bad too, and they could also be sexually assaulted.
However boys aren't at risk from the effects of pregnancy and birth whilst physically immature (child brides have higher rates of birth injuries, maternal death and infant death).

FN I think. Even if you are married (or “promised”) that young, you wouldn’t usually move in with your husband until you were older, like maybe 15. Or at least until your first period (this is according to my Nana who grew up in another country where this happened, so not definitive).

Oh sorry just read the post further above, that it did occur in 2013. How awful and tragic. I’m in shock that her “husband” did such a terrible thing, and that the families allowed it. That poor child.

I think this is fake news however it does happen unfortunately...

And my anger is NOT at her parents. It’s pretty arrogant to watch how many children in Yemen are dying from malnutrition each day because of the war conditions and then go blame desperate parents who took a ruck on their child’s mental health just so she gets fed and sheltered.. and basically not die.. and probably wanted to use the dowry to feed their other kids too...

It’s unfair on the girl. Unfair on the whole family.

But the stupid man who married her is the pig. He should’ve just donated money or adopted her instead of raping her...

It’s the man ... only the man to blame.

And I’ve seen first hand... these brides families usually go begging such established men to marry their daughters... literally begging... because they’re desperate for letting their kids survive in these war conditions.

So these men justify to themselves that they’re doing a good deed... instead, they should’ve realised no father would want to give away his child like that... like a potato... unless they’re in pretty desperate conditions - life or death of that child...

Sadly... this is a situation where the world needs to be horrified at the situation of human desperation it has reached in some parts of the world.

We could start by expecting our own bloody country to stop supplying arms to Saudi Arabia who is involved in the deaths of these children

This child died from sex... thousands are during from lack of food and shelter..

In other words they need someone capable of adopting her. They justify it by saying the girl was going to be raped under war conditions with no shelter anyway, or die from lack of food.

I can imagine the pain those parents go through too...

I’m not justifying it. The situation is pretty messed... and before we blame the people who are drowning in desperation, let’s take responsibility for our contribution to the problem?
