Just bought a Pixar Incredibles toy Dash and Jack-Jack set and came across this gem:

"Collect then all!" listing the main male characters only and completely excluding Elastigirl and Violet (aka the 2 females in the family).

Why? Would this have been intentional?!

I went to Orlando for work last year, and a friends son asked me if I could get him a Rey Star Wars t shirt from the Disney store. The only tops for men had male characters on, not a single one with the main character. I considered getting him a girls t shirt, except there was only one with Rey and it was full of pink and glitter which I know he wouldn’t want. I think there was actually a little bit of Internet rage over this, she was omitted from the board game too.."

This is being pushed so hard on kids. I wanted a big hero six t-shirt (just with Baymax's face on) - but after looking and seeing that they'd segregated the boys and girls t-shirts with male and female characters I just got such a bad taste in my mouth about it that I didn't buy one.

I've tried to shield mine as much as I can (note shield, not force stuff on them), sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I was mentally hi-fiving myself this afternoon when I bought a couple of packs of superhero jelly beans while I was doing the rest of the shopping, and DS2 yelled - 'bagsy the wonder woman ones' (both packs identical, one batman, one wonderwoman on front) though.

DS1 picked a Phasma storm trooper costume too, and defended himself admirably when some other kid told him that that was a girls' costume.
