Frequent lurker but dont often post!
I'd just like to say a big thank you to the posters of these boards, you've boosted my outrage (& confidence) enough that tonight I made my first ever complaint that directly referenced misogyny.
I'm not a stranger to making complaints, but usually when I'm patronised or ignored as a non-man I fume a bit and maybe rant on fb.
Tonight i spoke to a festival security guard about my grave concerns for the safety of dozens of teenagers walking dangerously down a main road to access the site. He totally brushed me off, looked round my car (& box of fruit for my tea, homecare worker in uniform and clearly working) and waved me on saying "just enjoy your fruit and chill out"
I've made a formal complaint about his lack of response, and also made it clear I don't feel I would have been spoken to like that if I was a big burly man in a white van! With that attitude to both children and women I didn't think he was suitable for that job. They're investigating and will get back to me, dunno if anything will come of it but I feel stronger for doing something however small.
So just thank you all, you dont know how many of us lurkers you inspire to take those first baby steps.
