Wonderful woman! We met her at a book-signing/talk - DS1 and I were last in the queue so it had been over an hour - she was still so chatty and friendly and enthusiastic! Really made my son's year!

Me too MacaroonMama!

I love her work, she is so clever and her characters are fantastic, strong and easy to relate to with not a hint of stereotype.

Libraries are a bit of a personal bugbear for me. Our local libraries are in so much trouble, the ones in wealthy areas stay open (albeit with shortened hours and dwindling staff) whilst the ones in poor areas have vanished. As a child from a poor background my local library was a warm safe escape and where I learned the power of books and lovely librarians (often unofficial social workers ime). The areas who need libraries most are worst hit by their loss.

So true about libraries. They are such a key place to keep open for the whole community.

An excellent choice!

I'm a huge fan.

In Cambridge, a local library was closed as the area was too wealthy and the parents could take their children to the library in the city centre instead. Hmm
