Just saw this on twitter. AA are promoting pride with their 1st all LGBT crew. You'll never guess which letter is missing ShockHmm

Well that's going down well.

Some posters are pointing out they have omitted T as well as L as the 2 people in dresses are obviously drag queens, not T. It's a fair point.

sakura184 · 08/07/2019 23:43

How can you tell the difference between a trans woman and a drag queen by their picture ?

LassOfFyvie · 09/07/2019 00:06

Have you looked at the video? They look straight out of Ru Paul's drag race.

AlunWynsKnee · 09/07/2019 00:10

Drag Queens come under the Stonewall definition of Trans.

NotBadConsidering · 09/07/2019 00:18

Tanni Grey-Thompson on that thread.

Jellylegsni · 09/07/2019 00:20

I believe that drag queens are now considered to be part of the transgender group by many of the big LGBT organisations so by that definition the T are included.

MagneticSingularity · 09/07/2019 01:39

When massive male-dominated corporations try to do diverse and inclusive and fail spectacularly.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 09/07/2019 01:48

Lol, 6/6 blokes, and 5/6 (looks to be) white blokes to boot, = inclusive. So progressive, much diverse.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/07/2019 02:37

Let's all fly delta.

They had pictures of their mother-daughter flight team.

Or Air India who managed round the world with a female crew.

Air America for a sausage fest.

LizzieSiddal · 09/07/2019 07:12

You could not make this shit up.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/07/2019 07:22

Jesus. That’s so spectacularly bad. Did they really not notice?

Don’t mean to derail but wtf is it with airlines doing shitty things all the time? Air NewZealand won’t allow Māori with Ta Moko that could possibly be seen as front line staff. Even if it’s under your shirt! It might ‘frighten passengers’. Racist bullshit. While they use our art on their plane Shock

Has this airline replied to any of the comments pointing out there is no women?? You’d think they’d address it.

SophoclesTheFox · 09/07/2019 07:30

A veritable sausage fest of diversity. Well done, that marketing team! You wouldn’t want women cluttering it up.

failingatlife · 09/07/2019 08:36

I don't think AA have even acknowledged the tweet. Maybe they're hurriedly finishing off their next video with an all female ground crew or something...

JustAnotherWoman · 09/07/2019 09:03

Appalling, how can they not see it?

KatvonHostileExtremist · 09/07/2019 09:09

Someone made a great comment about a "cockpit"

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 12:52

I know but how do you tell the difference between transwomen and drag?

MagneticSingularity · 09/07/2019 13:29

I know but how do you tell the difference between transwomen and drag?

It’s simple - one is a man dressed as a woman but doesn’t feel like a woman therefore is not a woman and one’s a man dressed as a woman (or not) but does feel like a woman so is a woman! And intersectional and inclusive and acceptance and alla that good stuff - And why are you even asking the question? Transphobe!

Actually, I don’t know either.

DpWm · 09/07/2019 13:44

To be fair it's probable all the air hostesses they had on the books weren't lesbian. It's not a prerequisite for the job.

Males who go into flight attendant jobs are more likely to be gay because it isn't a stereotypical gender-conforming male type job. More a woman's job. Lesbians make up quite a low % of the LGB as it is. Maybe the lesbians don't want to out themselves on their flight.
I understand how gay blokes could be over-represented in air hostessing.

JoyceJeffries · 09/07/2019 15:11

So in their entire company they couldn’t find a couple of out lesbians?🤔

BatShite · 09/07/2019 15:16

Isn't this just a marvellous way of getting people to celebrate all male companies and such though? Just claim to be lgbt inclusive, and despite it being all blokes, you are inclusive, yay!

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/07/2019 15:31

If you can't find an LGBT crew, don't make a bloody video about it (and look at your hiring process).

Purpleartichoke · 09/07/2019 16:07

No women. If they really don’t have a single lesbian crew member in the entire organization, then they really need to review hiring practices.

What bothers me is the Supposedly professional crew out of uniform. I would applaud the company for not imposing gender norms on clothing and allowing male or female employees to wear skirts and blouses. In this case, though, the company has the crew in sequined dresses and heavy makeup. I don’t have a company manual in front of me, but I can say with 99.99999% certainty, that a female employee would not be allowed to dress like that.

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 16:11

MagneticSingularity

Thanks Grin

JellySlice · 09/07/2019 16:14

Surely the last two aren't aircrew? Or has the uniform always included sequinned dress and hair worn loose?

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/07/2019 13:05

Tanni Grey-Thompson on that thread

I've noticed that Tanni follows lots of GC accounts.
