To avoid current derail of thread about Dr Em

OP posts:
sakura184 · 09/07/2019 15:09

No I know men are XY, I don't think they're just a Y. Random derail again

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 15:11

You talk as if all Y chromosomes are simultaneously mutating in the same way and one day will all accumulate so many mutations that all men will suddenly disappear in a Thanos click.

I think they're on their way out, yes, but I'm sure it's a process that takes probably millions of years , I have no idea. I doubt the planet has got much longer so we'll all be dead before that happens anyway

golgiapparatus · 09/07/2019 15:12

They aren't just XY they are 44 + XY. Not random derail, salient point. Since they will experience variation in the 44 as well as the sex chromosomes. You don't seem to grasp this.

Goosefoot · 09/07/2019 15:13

This is the most bizarre thread ever. It seems to be a pretty blatant attempt to construct a biological justification to say that women are genetically superior to men. Nasty stuff.

TheFallenMadonna · 09/07/2019 15:14

I know the points been made, but...

"the whole point of having Y people is so that females can evolve. Ys, however, don't evolve themselves"

"The whole point of males is so that females evolve from generation to generation. Males themselves, however, not only do not evolve, but actually do the opposite and "become more streamlined" with each generation"

...these posts would suggest you haven't taken that in.

I'm leaving "evolve from generation to generation" to one side...

Y chromosome
BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 09/07/2019 15:15

I’m reading Angela Saini’s Superior and I must say this conversation does feel like it has echoes of scientific racism

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 15:17

Nope it was just a fascinating discovery for women, who had been told for millennia that they were definitely inferior to men. To find that , biologically, we are definitely not inferior after all, far from it, was a revelation.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 09/07/2019 15:19

But when did men stop evolving? Confused

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 15:20

It's almost like all men's talk, codified into laws and religions and literature and medicine , about their innate superiority over women
, was all along a huge deflection

TeaEnjoyingRadiantFeminist · 09/07/2019 15:22

Sakura so I'm clear, are you saying that a bit like the 'selfish gene', we actually need to beware the 'inadequate chromosome' and realise that the patriarchy is based on men having a sex-based inferiority complex due to some sort of internal sense of Y chromosome shame/ X chromosome envy?

TheFallenMadonna · 09/07/2019 15:24

As one of my Xs in each cell is largely inactive anyway, I'm not sure I feel any superiority with pretty much the same X dosage. But maybe that's just the female socialisation talking...

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 09/07/2019 15:24

Sorry Sakura this is just plain bobbins

And as I’ve said, it reminds me uncomfortably of scientific racism. I’m out

TheFallenMadonna · 09/07/2019 15:25

Superiority to someone with pretty much...

golgiapparatus · 09/07/2019 15:29

All a load of bobbins. Smashing phrase.

DecomposingComposers · 09/07/2019 15:35

She wrote how interesting it was that men had a vested interest in making sure this didn't become public knowledge.

Grin
RosesAndRaindrops · 09/07/2019 17:08

So religion, literature and medicine has all been manipulated over the years by men as a great big deflection over who's superior over who?
I'm sorry, this thread's batshit, and I didn't even know about scientific racism before but this thread definitely has a whiff of it, it's foul reading.
Oh and I still stand by WTAF are you on about, even more so now!

DecomposingComposers · 09/07/2019 17:14

I'm still loling at all the men in the world being "in" on this secret that they're becoming extinct and trying desperately to stop it becoming public knowledge.

😂😂😂😂

AlwaysComingHome · 09/07/2019 17:22

Why is this extinction only happening in male humans and not the rest of the animal kingdom who’s sex is determined by their X and Y chromosomes?

Why is it happening right now, just when we’ve discovered chromosomes, when it could have happened at any time in the last 150 million years?

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 17:23

TeaEnjoyingRadiantFeminist

Well... men have had such a complex about proving they were superior over women that I just think it astounded a lot of women when it was proven that biologically they definitely aren't

So what on earth has their obsession with superiority been about?

Also, is the degraded Y the reason men are hell bent on destroying the world and bringing everyone down with them?

AlwaysComingHome · 09/07/2019 17:24

I'm still loling at all the men in the world being "in" on this secret that they're becoming extinct and trying desperately to stop it becoming public knowledge.

I think they hold secret meetings about it in their sheds.

RosesAndRaindrops · 09/07/2019 17:28

@AlwaysComingHome Grin Grin

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 17:29

Biology is unfortunately transphobic and misandrist

AlwaysComingHome · 09/07/2019 17:31

I like talking science but some people are beyond reasoning with. As others have noted, this is basically ‘race science’.

It also reminds me of Lombroso’s theories about ‘atavism’ among the ‘criminal classes’.

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 17:38

I've been called all kinds of names, told to die etc because I've tried to explain to the internet that humans are a dimorphic species

You might not like what's happening to the Y , I don't like it either because I think it's responsible for a lot of shit that's going on in the world
