TRAs planning a protest against A Woman's Place meeting on July 10th

The theme of the WPUK meeting is Why female sport matters, and why we must protect it. Effectively the TRAs are protesting against fairness in women's sports.

Details of their protest are below. Protesters are advised not to be violent, to carry offensive banners, or to try and physically stop the meeting from going ahead. 'This is a response, not an attack.'

www.facebook.com/events/2255386031382613/

Women's place UK are a transphobic hate group that work towards the rolling back of trans rights. Their meetings are recruitment drives where they peddle transphobia and their endless justifications for transphobia.

This is happening in our town. Where we live. We need to show them that we won't let hatred towards our trans brothers, sisters and everyone else stand without a response. A fun, musical, party response.

The protest itself will not be taking place at the National Gallery. That is only the meeting place due to it being a large area next to several decent transport routes. Women's Place UK don't release the venue until several hours before the event, so we will move there as soon as we know the location.

Cis allies are encouraged to attend. Allies are needed. Trans people cannot do this alone.

Some ground rules.

1. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH ANY ATTENDEES OR WOMEN'S PLACE UK MEMBERS/SPEAKERS DIRECTLY.

Stay away if you cannot keep it together. Do not directly engage, even if you are baited. If anyone does bait you and you cannot ignore them, walk away.

2. WE ARE NOT ATTEMPTING TO STOP OR INVADE THE MEETING.

This is not the goal. This is a response, not an attack.

2. THIS IS A NON VIOLENT PROTEST.

If anyone is suspected of having any violent intentions, you will be asked to leave.

3. BRING BANNERS THAT WOULDN'T UPSET YOUR MOTHER

We want this to be a family friendly protest. Please avoid swears on your banners.

4. BRING A GUITAR

Singing is fun.

5. DO YOU DO CIRCUS THINGS? BRING CIRCUS THINGS

Every protest needs a juggler.

It was TRANSWOMEN ARE WOMEN at Oxford

And yes they did seem strangely frightened of biscuits. Maybe anyone who is worried could take a packet along for safety?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 08/07/2019 16:06

I expect they were thinking of the apple in Snow White seeing as TERFS are basically witches.

Branleuse · 08/07/2019 16:23

I dont mind if they protest as long as they dont touch anyone, but usually its non trans people protesting, and also usually women (handmaidens) who the trans massive like to set out to do their dirty work and protesting for them, and at least the women dont tend to get violent, unlike the transwomen who are renowned for throwing punches.

People should be allowed to protest, and they should be able to debate their point. Shame really that the trans agenda now seems to promote the idea of their allies not even engaging, but hardly surprising, because as soon as you actually talk about it to someone, its pretty clear their point of view is bonkers. Kind of like the jehovahs witnesses not being allowed to talk about worldly stuff with non JWs in case theyre corrupted.

ChattyLion · 08/07/2019 16:26

Everyone has the right to peaceful protest. Usually those organising them show a bit of political strategic thinking in how best to make their views heard and supported by the maximum number of new coverts.

But yes please- do go right on ahead with your picket arguing against women’s competitive or social sporting opportunity Hmm at a time when we are having the most successful women’s football World Cup ever..

I'm pro biscuit but after all the urban legend nonsense last year about razor blades and posters I wouldn't trust people not to pretend to find more urban myths in my biscuits if I took any to share.

If find this sad but prudent.

That was already covered. We were accused of shoving biscuits in protesters mouths without a thought as to their food intolerances. It’s on Dr Clara Barker’s blog. Apparently telling porkies is something academics from all establishments do these days if it suits their bias Hmm

Ereshkigal · 08/07/2019 18:51

Reading protest was a bit shouty but they couldn't think of anything catchy to shout other than 'shame on you'. water off a ducks back to me. But the stalking of Rosa Freeman on campus was a bit creepy.

I think it was mostly different people. It wasn't the wet behind the ears lot who eventually managed to find the right meeting after wandering the streets in the rain for an hour or so.

Scared of Parker?!
Or disappointed by the lack of support for their little protest?
Disappointing, the media coverage of masked idiots trying to intimidate women (including Sharron Davies) holding an event to defend female sport would have been priceless.

Michelleoftheresistance · 08/07/2019 20:56

What 'physical danger' could Posie possibly be suspected of presenting? Confused Could someone point me to any evidence of GC women presenting any danger ever to TRA protesters?

Ereshkigal · 08/07/2019 20:57

GrinGrinGrinthat has made my night.

DuMondeB · 08/07/2019 20:57

Is it literal physical danger?

For some reason this is making me imagine a whole army of teeny tiny Posies, all about eighteen inches high, carrying teeny tiny weapons.

Anlaf · 08/07/2019 21:01

BTW lads there are still tickets available

I'd love to know if there's any. And I would absolutely condemn it if there was.

SophoclesTheFox · 08/07/2019 21:06

Physical danger?

Don’t be a silly billy. Please do come. Nobody is going to hurt you, Londoners Against Transphobia, because actually, people are going to this event to hear Sharron et al speaking. It’s not all about you, so don’t be so flipping melodramatic.

Come and juggle if you like, or better yet come and see how entirely normal and unthreatening the attendees actually are. I promise you, you will leave feeling very comforted that the women there are no physical danger to you whatsoever, then you can stop this silly nonsense about being “ literally physically threatened.”

I’ve just read the Facebook page. They’re worried that if Posie & Julia are there they might not be able to resist attacking or abusing them. And that would make them look bad in the media & it would be all Posie & Julia’s fault.
