I have a 11 (about to be 12) yr old daughter. We had a conversation the other night which was really alarming for me, and I'm wondering if anyone can signpost me to some appropriate books/blogs/anything! to help. My daughter doesnt like to show her body, rarely wears shorts, likes t shirts over sized - Doc martins etc. We were watching glastonbury and some girls on shoulders in the crowd were wearing glittery bras. Daughter comments, 'well its no wonder girls get sexually assaulted wearing just that, is it'. I obviously went in pretty quick with response, but she is a dweller on stuff and i would love to find some age appropriate stuff for her to read that would make her reassess this apart from just my reponse. Any ideas welcome!

OMG that is horrifying, our society is indoctrinating our young girls to believe they are responsible for the behaviour of men. I have a copy of Girl Up by Laura Bates but it might be a bit "old" for a girl of 11, it's quite sweary.
Sorry I don't have any other suggestions but I hope you manage to find a way to convince her that girls and women are not responsible for the appalling behaviour of men.
