This is a screen shot of what they have posted this evening. It’s a Huffpost article and underneath a reference to “cisgender women”

Abortions. Not just for women. Hmm

Well, of course they do. The 'official' face of Irish feminism is very trans-positive. Remember that letter that went around during the referendum campaign? It was really disheartening to read the names of so many friends and fellow campaigners who had signed it.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 03/07/2019 20:36

I do indeed remember that letter. Disheartening is right. When can we expect the dawning realisation in Ireland?

Not sure if relevant but I am in NI and trans issues is just now becoming a topic of conversation among people I know. Most are blissfully unaware of the whole topic. We do have other shit going on though do keep us occupied.

Why is it relevant if you are a 'gender non-conforming person' when it comes to having an abortion?

Mermoose · 03/07/2019 20:40

Why is their Twit (and I do mean Twit) handle 'Safe Abortion Ireland - Women Help Women'? Shouldn't it be 'Safe Abortion Ireland - Beings Help Beings'? Or 'Uterus-Havers Help Uterus-Havers'?

MonkeyTrap · 03/07/2019 20:42

Wtf?! Why is this important when campaigning for uterus owners rights to abortions? Surely this is just detracting from the much bigger issue of safe, legal abortions?!

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 03/07/2019 20:44

When can we expect the dawning realisation in Ireland?

Simply put, we can't expect it.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 03/07/2019 20:49

Why is it relevant if you are a 'gender non-conforming person' when it comes to having an abortion?

Because apparently it is relevant to all topics. Whatever it is, must include the gender angle.

It's part of the social conditioning, everything need to be linked back to it.

AmProperlyIn · 03/07/2019 21:05

I would assume that they mean trans men and non conforming persons who are, biologically, women but who choose not to refer to themselves as such.

They may choose not to define themselves as women, but do have the same medical requirements.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 03/07/2019 21:09

They may choose not to define themselves as women, but do have the same medical requirements.

Because they are women.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 03/07/2019 21:15

Yes Am, I wasn’t confused about who they mean. I know who they mean. They’re all still women. And those who aren’t trans aren’t “cisgendered women”

OP posts:

You mean identifying as Male didn't stop their unwanted pregnancy Shock We should let the trans community know urgently.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 03/07/2019 21:42

Almost as if you can’t identify out of your biology? Someone should have said, really.

Its this batshittery that removes my last shred of patience for all this. Women are the only people who get abortions. Women are the only class of humans for whom this is an issue. What you actually mean is some women don't like to use the word 'women'. Which is fine.

They haven't changed sex though. So stop fucking up very serious biological class based issues for women by playing silly word games to try and push a polite illusion past the point of common sense and playing 'this affects men too' games. Because then you force me to the blunt discourtesy of saying you're lying and the needs of 50% of the population matter more than lying does.

SpookyMulder · 03/07/2019 22:06

I had this argument with SisterSupporter Manchester.

I was told not to use the word 'woman' on my placard when protesting Christian vigils outside abortion clinics.

Why the hell are they called SisterSupporter then 🤔

I swear half these places just spout this shit without thinking it through.
