Girl guides policy change?

Just had an email from Guides hq with policy updates - in the bit about membership the equality act is quoted with ref to single sex provision and there is no mention of trans. Am I being optimistic that sense may have prevailed?

No idea, maybe ask Helen Watts on twitter?

This is still up and easily accessible, so doubt there's been any change at all. Mentalists, the lot of them.

Oh, bollocks the lot of them. They’ve got a big thing about having a single sex space blah blah equality act. But also say that they consider ‘transgirls’ to be girls 🤯. so they believe two different things at the same time. Idiots.

Remember who they've been advised by - not those with a concern for safeguarding and the rights / needs of girls.

What the fuck kind of bollocks is this? How do they marry single sex plus trans?!!!

HermioneWeasley · 03/07/2019 20:55

The cognitive dissonance is off the scale

Because if you think you are female, you magically change sex. If you are a girl who likes rugby, you magically become a boy and we are to manage you out. I am ignoring this bollocks and if they expect me to let trans girls in, I will close my unit. There's a massive waiting list where I live, so that's their loss.

I remember watching a video of Posie a while back where someone had told her they were committed to making women's spaces both single sex and trans inclusive. She was laughing but in a furious, "I'm about to go over the edge and hurt someone" kind of way and I thought "Why is she so angry, surely it's good that they're addressing it? It'll be interesting to hear how they figure it out though because those things are mutually exclusive". I was still pretty new to the debate and had no idea that anyone thought TW were literally female, and that a space could include TW and still be single sex. How sweet those naive days were. I mean, when people use the phrase "squaring the circle" it isn't generally an invitation to claim that the square is literally a circle and assault/ threaten/ sack anyone who says otherwise. There's mental gymnastics and then there's just straight up insanity and/or gas-lighting. GG is all the above, but with children.

But you can make a facility single sex and trans inclusive - you include trans people of the same sex, not gender. Job done, logic preserved, but some unhappy non-validated people.

Haha yeh, sadly that definitely wasn't what they meant...

scotsheather · 03/07/2019 23:09

I think there were suggestions a womans group had a transwomen specific group which is the only way you can be same gender and sex while being 'trans inclusive'. Maybe someone will create an organisation for boys who like wearing dresses and why not? If it keeps out the GIRL guides.

But only total capitulation to the trans agenda will satisfy as we know painfully well.
