Horrific story in the sun about a webcam girl who asphyxiation herself for a client
www.google.com/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/9378243/girl-suffocated-webcam-sex-act-online/amp/

In a follow up article the Sun interviews a web cam model about what it's like. No mention of the fact men are paying these women to do risky sex acts. Apparently its the fault of "so-called feminists" because we have got rid of the easier jobs like glamour modelling and grid girls.

Can you post the link a few more times

BatShite · 01/07/2019 13:09

Well we should know by now that every situation can be twisted to be feminists at fault. This is ridiculous though.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 01/07/2019 13:11

Easy there, Mabel...it's just a wee clerical error.

She was a beautiful child. At 21, you're hardly out of childhood. How messed up was she that she wanted to do things that might lead to her death? Poor kid. Misled.

DuMondeB · 01/07/2019 13:28

There is a thread about this already. Hope’s sister has posted on it.

Please keep the victim blaming to yourself. Ta.

Bezalelle · 01/07/2019 13:35

Yep. It's all our fault. Never men's. Never.

Gingerkittykat · 01/07/2019 14:06

Did the Sun ban page 3?

They have managed to exploit this tragedy by having pictures of a "cam girl" in her underwear, a video advertising another model has joined a certain boradcaster and attacks on big bad feminazis.

She makes cam work sound attractive, £5000 a month compared to working set hours in Tesco.

feelingverylazytoday · 01/07/2019 15:11

I see my post got deleted. I was talking about the girl in the Sun, not Hope. A girl who freely admits she chooses this line of work and takes risks because she'd rather earn hundreds of pounds than say no. Those are her own words but of course you all know best.

feelingverylazytoday · 01/07/2019 16:50

Oh yeah and
Put a plastic bag over your head
At what point does responsibility for one's own safety kick in?
Way way before that point, I would suggest.
So, in the absence of evidence that this woman was in any way forced, gaslighted or coerced into any of these actions, I think I'll save my sympathy for the women who are actually trafficked and forced into prostitution.

TheInebriati · 01/07/2019 16:52

I really think your post demonstrates that you don't understand grooming or coercion, or how much young women are trained into compliance.

feelingverylazytoday · 01/07/2019 17:01

Theinebrati please produce some evidence that this young woman was groomed or coerced in any way.
I'm only going from her own testimony in. The Sun.

feelingverylazytoday · 01/07/2019 17:13

or how much young women are trained into compliance
What, to put plastic bags over their heads?
Oh come the fuck on.

Dervel · 01/07/2019 18:48

Jesus some stuff I really wish I didn’t know about, but in the case of Hope’s death the guy basically watched her die and did nothing. I’m all for people taking responsibility for their own health, but watching someone die and to not do anything is obscene and in this context pure evil. He apparently has a collection of videos that may show the deaths of other young women.

I really can’t conjure how this is the fault of feminists. In no ‘wave’ of feminism I am aware of us asphyxiation a foundational practice...

PurpleGlitter1983 · 01/07/2019 18:53

It's the fact he logged off without alerting the site at the very least that is gobsmacking to me.

Dervel · 01/07/2019 18:54

There wasn’t a site. Whilst they had met through one this was a ‘private’ arrangement through social media.

2BthatUnnoticed · 02/07/2019 12:34

Geez feeling, is that what you take from this? “It’s her own fault - no sympathy!” Wow. Thoughts for Hope’s family Flowers

QuentinWinters · 03/07/2019 07:39

ginger exactly. It's disgusting to take the death of a young woman and write an article basically cheering on camming as a career choice. There aren't many (any?) careers outside sex work where the longer you have been doing it, the less you are worth in the market. It's not a good career.

I also think the whole article is incredibly disrespectful to Hope and her family.

I'm absolutely bewildered by the backlash to feminism at the moment.

Um I wasn’t aware that glamour modelling had been banned... Gosh- good work, feminists

Pota2 · 03/07/2019 07:48

Also, from a glance at the girl in the article, glamour modelling was never going to be an option for her anyway, regardless of any feminist campaigning. That is not saying she is unattractive in any way- she isn’t- but she does not look like a model. She may well also have a different viewpoint when she gets older.
