Bodyform bucks the trend

Bodyform appear to have ignored the woke trend for calling women menstruators.

We’ve all been there, yet most of us could do with some advice on how to help our daughters through puberty. From raging hormones to budding breasts, here’s how to talk, support and guide her through the highs and lows.

Hoping this is good news.

Bodyform bucks the trend

Good for them. Unfortunately they have a horrible scent so I don’t use them

DuMondeB · 29/06/2019 20:13

Zenstruator?

😆

DpWm · 29/06/2019 20:14

Yeah what the fuck is up with the smell of Bodyform. I'm sure they didn't have perfume in them when I was a teen (many moons ago).
They're alienating a huge demographic just on that aspect alone.
The smell just draws attention to the fact you're on your period to everyone around. I could go on and on about how wrong that perfume is. I will never buy them.

BUT great. Talking about daughters and women etc. Super. Great stuff.
I don't want to have to buy them.

DpWm · 29/06/2019 20:15

"Run out of woad" has got to be faking it.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 29/06/2019 20:17

I buy supermarket own brand for my DD and even then it's really hard to find ones that aren't scented.

It's going to be a weird thing that comes and goes (like girl and boy nappies) but people need to organise themselves and boycott the scented monstrosities.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 29/06/2019 20:20

I haven’t heard “doofus” in about 20 years! Grin briliant.

Your son who identifies as a girl will not be identifying menstrual blood in his pants you thick fuck..

Lumene · 29/06/2019 20:25

Wooooo Bodyforrrrrm.

Bluestitch · 29/06/2019 20:28

'Run Out Of Woad' tweets GC stuff, they are taking the piss. I love 'zenstruators'!

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 29/06/2019 20:30

The pink bodyform aren't scented, at least they weren't last month when I bought.

Juells · 29/06/2019 20:48

I worry that anything we discuss on identifies a target

NothingTraLaLa · 29/06/2019 20:50

I use Bodyform as they aren't scented - I switched from Always which are.

EverardDigby · 29/06/2019 20:56

Yes I worry about that Juells but we just need companies to hold firm and that makes us stronger.

I will buy Bodyform for DD and me next time if they don't cave in the meantime to any pressure they get.

Pepvixen · 29/06/2019 21:01

I prefer bodyform to other brands. No perfume on the ones I use and a much more natural texture than other brands. Glad to see them centring women in their advertising.

Manderleyagain · 29/06/2019 21:12

Always/tampax produce a puberty leaflet and sample pack my daughter brought home from school. V focused on girls and none of the new language. They know their main market. Its mainly the small or eco friendly brands that are using the inclusive though alienating language. They have spotted a niche marketing opportunity. It must be a hard market to be in with the big monster companies.
I also worry about mentioning companies and celebs too.

Manderleyagain · 29/06/2019 21:15

Also I can't imagine for a kid who has major issues with the femaleness of their body, I can't imagine that menstrual products picking you out in their marketing is actually helping.

MacaroonMama · 29/06/2019 21:18

Another one here who switched from Always when they went scented to Bodyfirm as they are not.

Doubly glad because of this!

MacaroonMama · 29/06/2019 21:18

Or Bodyform even Grin

motorcyclenumptiness · 29/06/2019 21:20

I switched from Always to Bodyform because they label their perfumed/unperfumed products very clearly whereas Always is a stinky-perfume lottery

EmperorBallpitine · 29/06/2019 21:22

I also like the image accompanying, which was a dad and a very normal looking girl. Normalization of puberty talk must also include all/any parent knowing how to help.....

barelove · 29/06/2019 21:53

Well done Bodyform!

I used to use Naturecare because they are plastic free disposable sanitary towels and tampons and made from perfume free organic Cotton. And they’re not afraid to call us women Smile

Chickenish · 29/06/2019 22:09

Normalising of girls’ puberty is good. However, unless they are in the situation where it is necessary to know, men just don’t get hormones, wierd moods for no reason, the way that periods happen (tends to be a family thing, rather than one-size-fits-all-females).

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 29/06/2019 22:18

But surely dads and partners are in a situation where it is necessary to know? DH and other men I've been in LTRs with have been very aware of my periods and understood the process.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/06/2019 22:39

Thank fuck. I swapped to them from Always years ago too. The pink ones say unperfumed and the longer length ones in a mint coloured pack.

So sick of all the "not all girls/women have vaginas" bullshit.

Zenstuators? Does that mean they identify as Buddhist when having their period? Confused

BigGreenOlives · 30/06/2019 15:28

Luxury Moon is another company that knows what women are - they have a good range of UK made cloth pads.
