Watch them tie themselves up in knots with this one.
Would you accept it if I said I was a Chinese woman? A seven-year old child?

Another interview by the same guy. Summary (paraphrased): Every species on earth is divided into two halves, male and female. But it seems the most intelligent of those species is too clever for their own good.

It's actually horrific: that these people are supposedly the future. I didn't realise just how far gone these young people are.

He probably edited the videos and chose the interviews to make the point he wanted.

Even with that caveat it's fucking mind boggling isn't it?

Goosefoot · 29/06/2019 22:50

My sense is that for quite a few of those, the person he was interviewing did not in fact think they were true. They didn't see any reason to make an issue of it, which is a bit different. THough I don't think they were clear in their own minds.

I assume there were lots of interviews they didn't show though.

MadnessPrevails · 29/06/2019 22:55

This guy asked the wrong question. He should have asked what they would think. Or more interestingly, both.

I might answer "I would say 'good for you', but would slowly try to extricate myself from this situation from fear of reprisal for stating my perfectly reasonable opinions".

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 29/06/2019 23:10

Urgh. Even given the caveat as pp said about highly edited interviews this is truly absurd. What are we teaching kids? Seriously.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 01/07/2019 09:15

This is great. Wonderful that they were finally prepared to say ‘no you’re not’ when asked if they agreed the interviewer was 6’5”. “So I can be a Chinese woman but not a 6’5” Chinese woman?”. Presumably because there is no politically correct baggage with height - they can comfortably state the truth of their own eyes. Hilarity aside there is a psychological process going on here which must merit academic study - I’m not a psychologist but would love to have some insight from someone who is!

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 01/07/2019 09:25

In the second film it’s clear how little probing or challenge their ideas have ever had. So many of them felt their was no difference between men and women, in which case what is a female, or male, gender identity?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 01/07/2019 09:59

OP I've literally just watched the videos and not RTT yet but christ on a bike, that's priceless! Man says he's a woman? Good for you! Nice to meet you I'm happy for you! Adult man says he's Chinese or 7 years old when he's clearly neither? Ooh I've got some questions! Oh, I'm not sure now!

Thank fuck for the "I'd ask you how you came to that conclusion" chap.

BertsFriend · 01/07/2019 10:20

I wish he'd followed up with the 'Good for you! I'm happy for you' student with this question;
'If I ran over there, grabbed that woman's bag and kept running with it, how would you describe me to the police? As the 6'5" Chinese woman I truly am inside, or the 5'9" white guy that you see?' Because one of those answers is nuts, and the other makes her a bigot.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2019 10:26

Fantastic clip. I've had it bookmarked for a while.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 01/07/2019 10:28

Spot on Berts.

The giggly curly haired lady was especially irritating in her absolute denial and desperation not to injure a mans feelings.

hipsterfun · 01/07/2019 11:32

How the fuck did some of us we become so averse to reality?

Oliversmumsarmy · 01/07/2019 11:44

If you can’t tell the difference between an adult white guy and a 7 year Chinese girl then maybe they aren’t as bright as they think they are

Singasonga · 01/07/2019 18:47

Huh. Those videos are from a group that has a history of campaigning against same sex marriage and insisting that children shouldn't be raised by gay or lesbian couples. I'd take them (and their random students, and their editing) with a MASSIVE grain of salt.

Lamaha · 01/07/2019 21:31

The only thing that would matters to me is if the interviews were staged. I don't think they are.
I have seen some of the best GC videos and articles on extreme right wing sites, sites which I would otherwise shun -- but when the left has abandoned women and girls what option is there? I don't care too much about the "purity" of a site or group, only about the "rightness" of the article or video.

But on the mumsnet feminism board, the enemy of the (trans) enemy is our friend, so this will be overlooked.

Singasonga · 01/07/2019 21:58

That's obviously bullshit "mabel", or I wouldn't have raised the point I did.

Chickenish · 01/07/2019 22:41

The group might be complete dicks, but I have no problem with the statement about how if you believe anything you will be taken in by anything.

Chickenish · 01/07/2019 22:43

Weren’t these exact same questions in a video last year from a Nordic country? not in English so it didn’t really happen

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 01/07/2019 23:38

Singasonga my thought too. Yep on the face of it, these soundbites are glaringly ridiculous. But FPI are softening us up to agree with them when they start to ask those 'harder' questions around equal marriage, access to abortion and contraception, the rights of children and so on.
As 'fun' as these clips are, the FPI are no friends to women.

Singasonga · 02/07/2019 09:48

Precisely, Ihavent. I don't agree with what the students are saying, but I also don't agree with the philosophical underpinnings of interview's organisation. I'm clear on where I stand and am happy to make sure others are fully informed so they can decide where they stand.
