Utterly appalling failure. (Also note the language used of 'child-on-child' sexual assault). That poor poor girl. I am really in despair that no one is looking after girls.

Why the hell aren't statistics kept on this?

MenuPlant · 28/06/2019 18:21

This is where the stories that society tells, are shown for the lies and often reversals they are.

The stories say that girls are valued, that rape is a terrible crime, that girls must be protected at all costs, they are vulnerable, moreso than boys.

The fact is that girls are not valued, rape is not that bad when it actually happens (each case seems to have reasons to minimise), that there's no interest in protecting girls, and boys are generally more important and protected.

What the stories + the truth do is paint field as weak, and reduce their freedom, while doing zero to actually protect them.

This is patriarchy 101.

Appalling the form teacher who was worried about the situation was not aware of the boys situation. But that's always the way again isn't it. Boys and men must be given the benefit of the doubt, warning girls or women is not fair on the men and boys, it's assuming guilt etc.

The teachers could have been at risk too depending on his size. The female ones I mean.

MenuPlant · 28/06/2019 18:22

Paint girls as weak, that should say.

Popchyk · 28/06/2019 18:23

Child-on-child. Peer-on-peer.

Fuck off.

"The boy was convicted of two rapes, days after the alleged attack on the 13-year-old girl in spring last year, her father said. The Crown Prosecution Service is now deciding whether to prosecute him for the later assault, in the toilets of a secondary school, he claimed".

So he's raped at least 3 times.

And yet another attack in the toilets. Which we're told are completely safe.

And this happened in spring last year? And the CPS is still wondering whether to charge him over a year later? Erm, what are they waiting for exactly?

severnboring · 28/06/2019 18:28

@MrsTerry probably for the same reason there's no misogyny category for hate crime - there'd be just too damn much.

@Menu agree with every word you say.

Wonder what kind of toilets were in the school. No supervision, obviously. I don't like the use of the word grooming in this context, where children are the same age. It was more like 'pretending to be her friend'. I suppose that's what grooming is...disgraceful to have unleashed him on unsuspecting pupils, no matter what.

NCBabyBoy · 28/06/2019 18:35

Awful. And Damian Hinds is a twat too. A girl's been raped and suddenly he cares about teacher workload? Fuck off!

Popchyk · 28/06/2019 18:42

"I don't like the use of the word grooming in this context, where children are the same age".

Seems likely that he's older than her. He could be 16 or so. He'd already raped two girls that we know of. All we know is that they were at the same secondary school.

SchrodingersUnicorn · 28/06/2019 20:20

The last paragraph grates. Teachers are perfectly aware, we spend all day with the kids. The problem is (as sounds exactly the situation in this case) our concerns are often not taken seriously by senior management. I'm pretty sure that this has a lot to do with the male-heavy demographic of senior management, which in my experience always protects the boys doing the assaulting over the girls being assaulted. Coz, you know, a criminal record or expulsion could ruin the boy's future...

truthisarevolutionaryact · 28/06/2019 20:37

I wonder whether the school was under pressure from the LA to take the boy? Avoiding exclusions is very high profile at the moment and unless you get someone (usually a woman) in a senior position who is able to insist that this child is a serious risk to girls, then inclusion at all costs is often the mantra.
I'm not defending the school who appear to have been highly neglectful and failed to safeguard the girl but I do know that often (using confidentiality and need to know) sometimes students with awful histories are placed in mainstream schools with only one of two staff told of what has happened.
Well done the parents for standing up for their daughter so persistently. It's a real worry having such a dire Secretary of State for Education as Damien Hinds - he is woefully ignorant of safeguarding and frankly uncaring about the safety and wellbeing of girls.

Kilbranan · 29/06/2019 08:55

This makes me so angry. A friends dd was sexually assaulted in primary school and the school refused to move the boy to a different class! They said she should change school instead. She escalated all the way to government level and the school relented but why are parents having to fight like this to protect our girls from being sexually assaulted at school (in this case mid primary age) Angry
It’s a national disgrace

DpWm · 29/06/2019 09:13

The boy needs to be arrested and permanently locked up. With no more access to porn. Fucking hell.

Boys with this attitude to young girls grow into incredibly dangerous adults.

TheQueef · 29/06/2019 10:13

Thanks for the share token.
I wonder what they will do with this very dangerous young man now he's raped again?

hipsterfun · 29/06/2019 11:03

Boys with this attitude to young girls grow into incredibly dangerous adults.

Especially when the boy understands that adults don’t condemn the behaviour.

littlbrowndog · 29/06/2019 11:18

This boy is a sexual predator.

I read somewhere that there is a rape everyday in Uk schools
damian hinds needs to be much more active on this and thinking about the girls who need protection from sexual predators in schools

truthisarevolutionaryact · 29/06/2019 14:18

I have written to Damien Hinds about safeguarding and have had letters from him praising mixed sex toilets in schools. The man (or the predator person who writes his letters for him) is a total creep. No wonder sexual assaults / rape in schools have gone up on his watch. He really doesn't give a toss about girls.
However, he is very keen on the charmers running the lobby groups currently eroding safeguarding in schools and has given them unconditional access to schools and children. Make of that what you will.

BadgertheBodger · 29/06/2019 18:54

Probably not something which really applies here as I’d be fairly confident it only applies to adults, but if we have instruments in place like Clare’s law, where you can ask the police if a potential new partner has done anything you should know about, how can it be that a rapist school boy is able to join a new school with relative anonymity and indeed, immunity.

I am just horrified. This “alleged” rape is absolutely heartbreaking, as if proper safeguarding had been followed it seems likely that he wouldn't have found it so easy to get to her. Horrible for the girl
