Sex not gender. (Again.)

Ok so we just had a list of items to be covered in our primary stage for phase sex Ed. Also a list of words to be used. So the topic is presented in bullet point form to parents and all perfectly acceptable age appropriate I have no issue.
They will not be discussing traditional or non traditional notions of gender or anything gender related because there is no bullet point for gender anything in the topics. But the word appears as a word to be used. Sex also appears.
So, all I can imagine is that sex and gender will be used interchangeably. Ive already emailed my older child’s teacher to ask her not to continue to conflate the two so as not to confuse the kids. Same sex couples being referred to as same gender couples. Got a garbled response about them being qualified professionals etc- even though that have been mixing the two up.
Would you email (again) and ask why the word features on the list if it’s not to be discussed? My kids know the difference but I don’t want this just casually pushed into classroom speech.

My DS thinks he would get into trouble saying the word “sex”, on the basis that it is a “rude word”... (primary school still). Sadly I could actually see this happening. I’ve told him it is the proper scientific word for male or female, that gender can have different meanings so it is less precise than sex, and if anyone tries to pull him up on saying sex - or penis, or any other such perfectly normal term - they can see me.

Dd whispered to me that she and her friend secretly looked up the word sex at school today. I advised her that loads of people have done this ever since they put dictionaries in schools and it is good to know the real meaning of words.
