Free speech isn’t under threat. It just suits bigots and boors to suggest so

(I wonder which debates they have in mind for which all should fall into line behind the banner of 'acceptable' thought).

Well, that is all kinds of stupid, but that's the beauty of freedom of speech. It allows idiots to show what they really are.

Ironic considering how the Guardian has been shutting down its 'Comment is Free' bit by bit. Now comment is just free for paid writers and, occasionally, those readers who agree with them.

The Guardian hasn’t failed to disappoint me again (and I had been a dedicated reader, on the verge of signing up to support them financially).

Free speech is the right to be wrong, to hold dissenting views and say so.

Free speech is not the right to be right and have your opinions accepted as facts.

There are comments. Mostly the writer is getting her arse handed to her. The article is very poor quality writing, reads like student journalism. I’m amazed a broadsheet would publish this, but wokeness trumps quality these days.
