Depressing to read how this is all just cool with the sex dolls.

*"One doll user said that a woman of his age (62) is “very limited . . . which is not her fault”. (Hear that, ladies? You’re not to blame!) Besides, these dolls were durable and you can be “as rough as you want . . . They’re built to take that kind of punishment.”

None of this is remotely disturbing is it? No. All fine. Nothing to see here."*

I read the article yesterday and assumed Midgely's last sentence in your quote was sarcasm. I don't think she's endorsing this, quite the opposite. Pointing out how ghastly the attitudes of the men are.

Galvantula · 20/06/2019 09:21

Yes I just thought the whole topic was awful. That this is on TV.

I got it 😉

Maybe I need to wait for coffee to kick in before I post, so that I make sense. 😅😅

Don't read the comments if you value your sanity/ continued faith in the human race.

'I watched Channel 5’s Me and My Sex Doll during which a man humped a doll, uncensored, her rubber legs splayed and eyes quite, quite dead, and now I must pour bleach into my eyes and put an axe through the telly.'

I can't see how a woman who wrote that can be considered to be onside with the dolly men.

Galvantula · 20/06/2019 11:06

I didn't think she was onside.

I just hadn't heard about this TV show.

The TV show sounds like the height of disgusting, at least in terms of TV shows. Real life still being much worse. Never watched Channel 5, never will.

I really hate everything about sex dolls. Ugh.

I do like to try and step back to look at a bigger picture though. Is it just that we don't like that they seem like a sort of fake woman? Is it different than a man masturbating with one of those fleshlights? What if he imagines a very typical sexy women, but an alive one, while he does it? What about a woman who used a dildo and imagines Burt Reynolds?

I think for most people its the transhumanist stuff that seems the most creepy, but I don't have a good sense of where the limits of that are, logically.

It feels like every day I am shown some new way that men act out how much they despise women.
(apparently this makes me a misandrist.)

In American football, the men use “tackling dummies” in practice rather than practice all the time against each other so as not to risk too much injury. The injuries, which are legion, are meant to be inflicted on the actual opponents during the actual game.

Whenever I read “sex dolls” my mind substitutes “tackling dummies.”
