The school where I work is having a diversity week and has put up posters from the organisation 'Just like us' who describe themselves as a charity supporting LGBTQ young people. Does anybody have any experience of working with them?

Hard to tell on first glance. Sexuality and gender identity mentioned but nothing on sex or gender but that fits with LGBT. Have a look into the trustees and maybe get in touch with Safe Schools Alliance in case they know more? I saw they put up something about Gendered Intelligence on FB the other day.

Has the school said specifically what will be covered? If in doubt can you pull them out of the class?

Sorry was unclear - are JLU delivering training or an assembly or is it just posters?

Thanks for replying. We haven't got details yet but there has been talk of speakers coming in and apparently we will be sent teaching resources from Stonewall (I'm keeping a close watch on that one). I've looked at the website for Just like us and they say they are part of school inclusion week. This looks like a government initiative. I feel uncomfortable with it all.

I have just had a letter from school, seems they have some involvement with them next week.

I have just had a brief look at the website and it does like like it is more about the bullying aspect rather than teaching children that they can change sex. I will have a deeper look later, but I think it might well be on the better end.

Speakers confirmed so far are from a charity dealing with dementia but there are other slots to be filled. Still no sign of the resources from Stonewall.
