Raises an interesting point re: impartiality and signalling support for a particular section of the community.

I work for the NHS and see a lot of people in rainbow lanyards, which makes no sense at all as we are not allowed to wear lanyards for hygiene reasons - apparently they can dangle onto patients and spread germs, so the uniform prohibits them in my trust. Except for the magical rainbow ones.
