According to someone in a FB group I am in (the group is for a totally unrelated hobby)

"I will just add that some of the so-called feminist groups, such as A Woman's Place, although there are others, have some pretty shady connections. Funding for opposition to GRA reform has been traced to fundamentalist Christian groups in the USA (which have pretty poor records on the rights of women), and the coverage they get in the parts of the media that otherwise objectify women (Mail/Express/Sun) is highly disproportionate to an equivocal dealing with the topic.

If you want to be feminist and support those who would subjugate and objectify women that is your choice, but I will support a feminism that empowers all women, whether straight or gay, trans or cis, of whatever race, creed or age."

Also

"... "cis" whether cis-man or cis-woman is somebody whose experience and expression of their gender is equal to the gender assigned to them at birth. It's a term that avoids there being trans-women or trans-men and "normal" or "ordinary", terms which feel like they imply trans people are "abnormal", rather than simply different.

Those who oppose transgender rights, in some cases denying that transgender people exist in their experienced gender (mostly women saying trans women can never be women) object to "cis" because it undermines their attempts to cast trans people as abnormal, against nature and all of the other techniques of erasure that have been tried and ultimately failed with gay people"

FYI this is a trans-identified male (as though you couldn't guess!)
His whole spiel is basically like everyone else's - either we capitulate completely to men's demands or we're evil bitches who wish they were all dead. No consideration that some women might have an element of critical thought.

I really must stay off FB at night GrinGrin

Textbook stuff!

RosaWaiting · 18/06/2019 01:22

I saw something on Twitter about pro women groups being hate groups. It’s terrifying.

FloralBunting · 18/06/2019 02:09

They just can't get their heads round any other objection to 'cis' that doesn't put trans people at the centre of the universe, can they?

It doesn't matter how many times you explain that telling a woman she 'identifies' with all the things which have been used to stomp women down simply because she knows she is female is really bloody offensive. They just ignore it and drone on that the only reason to object to 'cis' is because you don't want to be nice to trans people. We see it here when women talk about it and are called spiteful for refusing to be cis'd. Our objections cannot be reasoned, thoughtful conclusions - they are just because we haven't been educated or thumped out of our bigotry.

Once you've seen that this demand to be nice is based in a complete inability to see women as anything other than ciphers for the comfort of others, you become aware that, at base, every single AWA argument is rooted in the demand for women to acquiesce and you begin to develop a really bloody strong inner 'Fuck you, mate, all the way around and back again.' to every manifestation of it.

It is probably why we are constantly told we are such meanies on FWR, because it's a proper radicalisation portal that liberates women from this massive part of our socialization. It's a powerful thing see women persistently refusing to submit.

Damn, we've been rumbled.

Prayer circle time.

Funding? Ha ha, indeed.

US Fundamentalists Are Pushing Their Gay Children Back In The Closet.

Fixed the headline for you. Seriously though I'm sure we've seen plenty of Mommy Bloggers boasting about their trans child. Many of whom are God fearing Christians smack bang in the Bible Belt states.

I find it curious as an atheist, how they reconcile the fact that if God is infallible, how their child could be born in the wrong body. I have my suspicions.

It just goes to show the battle lines really cross religion, race and sexuality.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 18/06/2019 05:45

Once you've seen that this demand to be nice is based in a complete inability to see women as anything other than ciphers for the comfort of others.

Beautifully put, Floral.

Orchidoptic · 18/06/2019 07:44

I bite my thumb at Christian fundamentalists, wherever they are. Do I have to stop being a feminist now?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/06/2019 09:23

Dana I know the answer to that one, I do, I do, I do! Me, me me, I do, I do!

God is infallible. He knows who we are and what is in our hearts and souls and sometime he sees our need to be 'proven true'. So he allows some of his children to tread the path of Job. When they remain true all mankind is reminded is remined that we need but to persevere to walk with God.

So, this century has a new Job and this Job is all for proving the Darwin was wrong, that God makes bodies and he makes those fuckers how he wants them to be! So all you little Jobs and Jobettas, get out there with your preferred pronouns and hyper sexualise looks - work it dammit! Show all of mankind that God is, erm, God is... well, erm... God is out of the office. Please leave a message He may reply on His return.

Thanks @FloralBunting that is fabulously said. I shall copy that to use at an appropriate moment Grin

....and he's finally come right out and implied:
a) I'm an asshole
b) I'm relying on male journos to provide my moral compass
c) I'm not living and let living
d) I'm mistaken about Karen White because she's a woman and that just proves that female violence is a problem in prison.
e) whats wring with 'cis' being a subset of women - you don't see gay, black and disabled women moaning that they're also subsets
Hmm

Well! he filled his bingo card very quickly!

It's probably not worth trying to debate anything with him. He's a twat and is showing his entirely misogynist colours to all who care to see!

TerfOnTheWagon · 18/06/2019 16:22

I only actuallly posted one comment but the woke boys are out in force.

"Suggesting that trans women are men. That is absolute proof of transphobia - it is the bedrock of transphobia to deny the existence of trans women as women"

As John Cleese described 'Loretta':
"Symbolic of his struggle against reality" Grin
