EqualiTeach FreeToBe primary school programme

I’ve name changed for this.

Our school has notified us they are going to run the EqualiTeach FreeToBe programme. Does anyone have experience or information about this?

I had a good look at their website and for the most part the material and mission seems decent (lots of mention of sexism and gender stereotypes being an issue, all of which I agree vehemently with).
However they do have one blog post where they criticise recent media reporting on Mermaids and seem to equate reporting on the questioning of Mermaids Lottery funding as transphobic. This made me feel uncomfortable as they are not giving any credence to genuine concerns about the Tavistock, ROGD etc and the blog post lacked the critical thinking I would have expected.
Any info or thoughts? Should I be worried? Happy to contact the school.

They've apparently just had funding from Equalities Dept to create a programme.

This means any conflicts with the Equalities Act goes back to the gov.

Thanks.
Does anyone know what they teach?
If I were to contact the school does anyone have suggestions on what questions to pose? I just want to make sure they don’t teach my quite gender non conforming child that they can change sex or might be trans etc etc

@1984in2019

Hi, did your school begin this programme then?

We’ve just been given a letter from my DC school stating that this programme will begin next year. Their website doesn’t give much away, it only says that they will tackle Homophobia, Biophobia (what’s that?) and transphobia.

I’d appreciate anyone’s experience with Eaqualiteach.

Just coming on to ask if anyone has been in touch with the Safe Schools Alliance?

Biophobia (what’s that?)
I think they mean biphobia fear of bisexuals. Supporting free love and love for all etc.
What age group is this?

BrokenRainbow · 28/06/2019 03:45

On their websites it’s says Year 3-6

This is from one of the Blog pages:

www.equaliteach.co.uk/misguided-the-importance-of-supporting-transgender-young-people/

some of the language used is unhelpful.

If you can't find out what they teach, then they are hiding something.

It's not like you to be so oblique, Jacky! That blogpost is AWA/TRA propaganda from start to finish!!

@Safeschoolsallianceuk I have asked for a friend request, just waiting for it to be accepted.

It is as bad as I thought :(

I have a 9 year old who likes playing with the boys and is naturally sporty, some of the boys have started saying that she can’t play with them as she’s not a boy, I’ve been drilling it in her that she can certainly play and do anything that ‘boys’ do, who says football is only for boys? We’ve had lots of empowering discussions and watched girls playing sports and being wicked at it. She’s slowly started to challenge them and is happy playing with them again and being her sporty self. These people are going to come in and f her up aren’t they? She’s also On the asd spectrum.

I’m really concerned.

It's very likely, but the best thing to do is continue as you are doing, girls can do anything boys can.

BrokenRainbow · 29/06/2019 22:11

I need to find out their time table and what will be taught. Any workshop where I feel it will be detrimental to her health/identify and I’m pulling a sickie.
