Anyone got a share token for this?

That's an excellent piece:

Policy capture is at the root of this fankle, as with many issues around gender identity. Officials only take advice from LGBT stakeholders. They never consider that women might have something to say about legislation which erases them as a biological sex class. In this case they didn’t consult statisticians either.

"Fankle" is a new one to me and I have Scottish relatives.

Excellent work as we've come to expect from Joan , with extra points for the use of the word fankle!

A succinct introduction to regulatory capture, erasing sex by stealth in government guidelines and the unhealthy relationship between civil servants and pressure groups.

She describes how a dry, technical area such as the Census cannot escape the undemocratic mission creep. She tells us how it was done, and who was left out of the consultation - even experts like statisticians - in case the project bumped up against a dollop of reality.

As ever, she gets the tone just right. She's a star.

Joan is brilliant. She is very determined in fighting regulatory capture. We need some more like her in England.

Juells · 14/06/2019 10:13

@theOtherPamAyres May I quote your post on my FB page, with a link to the article? You put the points so succinctly.

theOtherPamAyres · 14/06/2019 10:43

Juells
