Confused about AGP

If anyone more educated on the matter could explain this to me I'd be v grateful. Can HSTS (homosexual transsexual) have AGP (autogynephilia)? Are they totally distinct? And does dysphoria affect both of them? I've read the basics of Blanchard's theory, but there seems to be multiple interpretations.

I wouldn't think it's a straightforward no or yes to be honest.
The standard accepted idea of the Homosexual Transsexual is that they were initially gay, felt that made them "a woman" and on some level thought they'd make more progress attracting a straight man if they became a woman, and maybe even thought they'd look amazing as a woman but for the purposes of attracting the opposite sex, and they'd have all the work done surgically.
There's no reason whatsoever for AGPs not to fall into this group too. There's no better affirmation of being a woman, than having a man be attracted to you, so long as it's not a gay man.

AGP is a paraphilia like any other, and paraphilias tend to come "in groups" if you like, so someone with one is likely to have another, men with AGP (cross dressers) are actually more likely than the general population to have up to 1-10 other paraphilias. (Reference 4th Wave Now I think? I'll try to dig it out)
The desire to have genital surgery is virtually non existent in this group (they like their dick) but fake breasts not so unlikely.
However, there's no reason why some AGPs aren't also gay, attracted to males. You don't hear about homosexual AGPs much, but you wouldn't expect to seeing as less than 2% of the general population in the UK is homosexual. Less than 2% of AGPs are probably homosexual too, reflecting the general population.

AGP can lead to pseudobisexuality. The fantasy of becoming a woman includes being f**d like a woman. The focus is not on pleasuring the male partner's body (as it would for HSTS) but on one's own sense of womanliness being confirmed.

You have to be careful as this is the area where gender critical people can be as bad for misinformation as some other groups.

Blanchard's two interviews with Benjamin Boyce are good places to start for information:

In one of these he complains about how his theory is being misrepresented. For one thing, he was very explicit that gender dysphorics with AGP do NOT generally experience it as primarily sexual - his theory is that the sexual part then turns into dysphoria - a wider distress about being male.

Blanchard has explicitly said the opposite - it is often people with AGP who are MORE interested in genital surgery, because a lot of them are actually attracted to having a female body, and HSTS are not that bothered, as for them it is largely a social thing.

In answer to your original question – Blanchard says that the HSTS, who are 100% gay, don't have AGP - his whole theory was based on seeing differences between the HSTS and the others, and that was one of them.

Thanks AnotherLass. That makes a lot of sense and has clarified a lot for me. It seems people have rather conflicting views on what AGP is and how it manifests, but it's good to know what Blanchard has explicitly said
