I'm aware that this has very capably been covered in previous threads, and I apologise in advance for asking, but, I feel very confused about the No Outsiders programme. Is it true that gender reassignment is covered in the Act, so No Outsiders is just implementing the law as it stands?

No Outsiders is about gender identity not gender reassignment.

To 'reassign your gender' legally you have to and obtain a certificate (GRC) and as you can only do this as an adult it is not possible to do this as a child. It pretty much irrelevant to children.

What the No Outsiders programme is doing is conflating gender identity and the protected characteristic of gender reassignment (as well as a number of other things).

There's lots in here OP about the origins of this programme and the man Andrew Moffat leading it so worth checking out past threads on a search for more info but this is pretty much how I understand it. Hope that helps.

Thank you very much. Very helpful and what I needed. I know there is lots of good threads on this but I have difficulty keeping up with them sometimes

There's a lot! Transgender Trend will be a useful resource if you're looking at schools stuff and there's a Standing for Women event in July which is about Stonewall in Schools. Dip your toes in and pick an area to start with, it's a broad area and I also get easily overwhelmed!
