I am fighting multiple battles on multiple fronts in hoodathunkit land
One of my oppressors recently offered to assist me by offering a referral to a life coach
Anyone familiar with my posts here and elsewhere will appreciate that I hold life coaches in similar esteem to psychic mediums, homeopaths and MLM bots, in fact the categories often overlap
I decided to investigate further and discovered that the life coach recommended to me had trained with an organisation called Master Coach, run by married couple Tony and Vicki Vee.
A brief perusal of the Master Coach facebook page alerted me to very obvious MLM elements to the business but nothing had prepared me for the full on Stepford Wife style misogyny that I would find with a little further digging.
A video by Viicki Lee immediately caught my attention, as the title 'Why Does Coaching Have A Bad Reputation?’’ is of interest to me.
My understanding of why life coaching has a bad reputation is as follows:
There is no state registration, standardised training / accreditation so anyone can become a life coach with no training or training
MLM elements which are rife throughout the industry
There have been many cases of life coaches involved in Ponzi schemes, pyramid selling and other scams
Lots of life coaches also work as new age charlatans of one kind or another
There are links between some life coaching organisations and sex cults (e.g. NXIVM)
The techniques used by life coaches can be used to manipulate, coerce and abuse vulnerable people
The depiction of Jeremy as a life coach in Peep Show was an accurate representation of the skill and mindset of many life coaches
There are probably other issues, but these will do for now.
Anyway here is Nicki Vee’s video 'Why Does Coaching Have A Bad Reputation?’’
It gets very interesting at 4.06 where the issues of rape and violence against women arise. Apparently if you are a life coach and you work with a couple where a man is an abuser of a woman you have to not be judgemental about things like rape and violence against women otherwise you cannot help the couple.
My jaw hit the floor listening to this crap. It gets worse and worse as the video goes on.
Then I searched the wayback machine for the Vee’s various websites and discovered that the Vees specialise in relationship and psychosexual therapy. In fact they offer very expensive couple sexual coaching where the client couple can select a luxury hotel suite from a range suggested by the Vees and the Vees turn up and deliver their sexual training whatnots on site so to speak.
