Michelle Moore is due to give a talk at a Quaker House in Sheffield on the 11th June. Attempts are being made to get the event cancelled with the usual cries of transphobia and hate group Here's a link twitter.com/michelemooreEd/status/1135953779881369601?s=19

The TRAs most prolific skill is shooting themselves in the foot, isn't it?

Message to TRAs: "transphobia" is a fictitious, meaningless term, since there is no reference to anything to do with "transgender", "gender identity" or gender expression" in any UK law.

[You may not be aware but pronouncements from Stonewall, Mermaids, Gendered Intelligence or any other "Trans" lobbying organisation do not create UK law. Stonewall's so-called "definition" of transphobia has zero legal meaning or impact! And, for the record, the CPS do not create UK law either, nor does the Police Service.]

In UK law there is reference to "transsexuals" only, for whom there is reference in the GRA 2004 and subsequent related reference in the Equality Act 2010.

I read the tweets from the people trying to cancel this. I was appalled at their unchristian attitude (and I'm atheist). Utter hypocrites.

Michelleoftheresistance · 04/06/2019 21:10

Best answer to debate - preventing anyone talking. Obviously. Because if you don't say it, it all just goes away.

Blue blankies work the same way on bogeymen I hear.

Transphobia has honestly been overused and stretched to the point where now it means nothing more meaningful or specific than a failure to please.

The Quakers cancelled a meeting in April where she spoke, didn't they? The meeting went ahead in a local pub instead.

These sorts of tactics just don't work. Women won't be silenced.

Yes, they did - with just minutes to go before the meeting was due to start. Best try and scout alternative locations just in case.

Clicky

Organisations really need to start to ignore twitter arseholes

littlbrowndog · 04/06/2019 23:31

Time they grew backbones.

The quakers weren’t lied to. About what talk was.

AncientLights · 05/06/2019 10:11

Of course they're trying to stop it. It's their modus operandi - wouldn't expect anything else from them.

stumbledin · 05/06/2019 14:13

I did post a notice with full details of this meeting earlier so it would have been useful to have this info added to that.

Not that many seemed interested in attending!

Let's hope the Quakers in Sheffield don't cave... The Friends Meeting Houses are run by different people in each location.

PhrixPhrox · 05/06/2019 17:14

Hmm - they can have their meetings and we don't make any protests or try to close down the meeting and if there is a gathering of more at least two GC women, on or off chairs, this is to be crushed.

Nope, not having that! Surprisingly, these days women know that they don't have to do as men and a few drinkers of Kool-Aid tell them.

Michelle Moore will no more be silenced that I will.

dianjo · 05/06/2019 17:15

For anyone in North East England - Michele Moore is speaking in Newcastle at Tyneside Irish Centre on Thursday 13th June.

Tickets here www.tickettailor.com/events/defendwomensrightsne/264857/

The Irish Centre have hosted 2 previous meetings for us - Defend Women's Rights NE & Cumbria.

The are brilliant - and there's no way they will cave in to intimidation. They usually get a few phone calls from TRAs - but they just tell them that they're welcome to attend the meeting if they wish - which of course they don't :-) In which case they can shove off!

The more they scream that people are not allowed to speak, the more people want to speak. The more they use tactics like this, the more people realise the issue and peak. Its odd that they don't seem to have clicked onto this yet.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2019 16:40

Crikey! They can't even read the event description, i seems! Bless!

TheRattleBag · 07/06/2019 13:39

Venue now changed. FFS.

dancingcamper · 07/06/2019 15:27

Ridiculous. I am going to be there, looking forward to it.

TheRattleBag · 08/06/2019 16:55

Me too!

Manderleyagain · 08/06/2019 17:50

I looked at the listing for this. I was surprised they said the venue, rather than releasing details a few hours before. I also thought it was really good that sheff feminist network were hosting because their Web site is quite woke and makes a point of saying their feminism includes tw. So these are the audiences which would benefit from hearing mm talk.

Outanabout · 08/06/2019 19:10

I'm getting 'link broken' message to both the Facebook links

dancingcamper · 11/06/2019 19:04

Are you here rattlebag?!!

They gave details of the venue this afternoon.

GrumpyCatLives · 11/06/2019 19:33

Good luck everyone Smile

dancingcamper · 11/06/2019 20:19

I have to say the speech was shocking and I have been reading this stuff for years now.

TheRattleBag · 11/06/2019 22:15

Yes I was there! Sat on a sofa near the radiator at the front. Sorry, only just saw this post!

It was an excellent talk, but sad too, to think of all those young lives marked forever 😫

dancingcamper · 12/06/2019 00:21

Agree very sad. I was sat on a sofa too! Am wondering if we spoke? Did you go to the pub after?
