Saw this being shared on facebook and thought some on mumsnet might be interested.
Organised by Sheffield Feminist Network.
Following on from the Sheffield Festival of Debate Sheffield Feminist Network invites you to carry on the conversations about how best to support children and young people who feel they are born in the wrong body.
We are delighted to welcome Michele Moore, Co- editor (with Heather Brunskell - Evans) of “Transgender Children and Young People - Born in Your Own body” who will share the findings of her research.
“This book brings together a variety of stakeholders to enlighten and educate…. voices which include academics, activists, parents, commentators and clinicians who have all arrived, from their different involved locations at a position of profound concern” (about the dominant narrative) Melinda Midgen, clinician at writing in Journal of Child Psychotherapy Vol 44, 1,2018.
Michele is Honorary Professor, School of Health and Social Care, Essex University. Her working life is in the field of inclusive education, including International projects for the United Nations. Her new book “Transgender Children - Inventing the Transgender Child” explores some new challenges.
An informal gathering; you can ask questions you never dared ask and talk to another confused feminist. All we ask is that you come interested and committed to respectful debate.
All women welcome. The venue is fully accessible. Coffee/hot drinks and refreshments.
Donation on the door (£0-£6 to contribute to room hire)
