Compulsory trans awareness training

invinoveritaserum · 03/06/2019 08:16

Apparently all staff (public sector role) have to go on compulsory trans awareness training. We have already had to do online training, but this is a half day training course. It is NOT being run by in-house training, which makes me wary of who will be running it. (I should find out later this week).
I'm worried by this. I simply cannot sit there and swallow the usual woke bs. I refuse to lie about biological fact. I refuse to be called a cis woman. And yet I know I risk being called a transphobe.
Any advice as to what to do/how to get through this?

@BogglesGoggles, I left that job to teach children with disabilities. Believe me, recognising a developmental problem does not mean not accepting people for who they are.

The ref/coaches very simply were checking that our team was abiding by the rules. They saw a boy on the team so came to talk to our manager about it. Needless to say, they were terribly embarrassed and apologetic when they were told that she was a girl. Especially the one time that the mother was standing next to the manager. But like i say, the mother was great, and told the guy not to worry about it. (The child herself wasn''t aware of the question on any of the occasions)

Imagine thinking someone had a developmental abnormality in their brain because at one point in their life they had their hair shorter than you thought it should be. That’s bonkers.

It would be bonkers if that's what happened. But it wasn't.

littlbrowndog · 03/06/2019 10:09

What about a 1/2 day training about sexism in the workplace

Much more relevant to the workforce

Here are the recordings and transcripts of the Mermaids training sessions.

It would be useful if there were recordings of training sessions delivered by other organisations for comparison.

Oh, it will be a right laugh I bet!

Do the 'training', report back/challenge them on all the sexist, misogynistic and anti-scientific nonsense it contains, ask when a training programme for the gender free will take place?

Ask when a training programme against female subjugation will take place.

Ask them for the evidence basis behind the need for this particular training as compared to any of the other protected characteristics under the 2010 Equalities Act.

Boom, happy days.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 03/06/2019 10:21

@SaraClara I'm very interested in how this young pupil "thought like a boy" how did this manifest itself. Obviously thinking like a boy must be a real thing, as you have said that she " thought like a boy" so please explain how you can know when this happens.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 03/06/2019 10:38

The difference is that your student was able to be who she was without any political lobby groups interpreting her behaviour as her being trans. Trans training is a massive gravy train where individuals (as part of a lobby group or not) get paid for essentially talking about themselves, their fantasies / wishes and their demands to change society. The training is done in a framework of 'it's transphobic to raise any challenge to this - and organisations and individuals are manipulated into passive acceptance - regardless of any harm caused to others.

No group has ever previously had such unchallenged access and been able to change policy and practice in this way - and their tool to do this has been to aggressively silence all debate (they started #nodebate ). It's not training, it's indoctrination, misleading and downright untruthful. That's why there is such a kick back on this board.

Sara
It would be bonkers if that's what happened. But it wasn't

You said
I do believe that something happened in her development in utero, that led to her brain and body being mismatched

So which is wrong is it a problem in her brain or a problem in her body or both?

NotTerfNorCis · 03/06/2019 10:43

Ask them to explain non-binary and gender fluid. They'll have to admit that the ideology has moved beyond 'being in the wrong body' and it's all to do with people's deeply felt 'sense of gender'. Hopefully that should get people thinking.

Have you wondered if the issue is your own problem with stereotyping boy and girl things?

CurbsideProphet · 03/06/2019 10:55

I had compulsory diversity training last year. It was essentially a pro trans training session provided by an organisation that supports gay and transgender young people (and provides chest binders etc) . We were asked whereabouts we are on the "gender scale", as of course no one can just be a biological man or woman.

The trainer told us all how awful it is that babies are told their gender at birth because of their genitalia. I asked if they meant that biological sex is observed and she just brushed past my comment.

We of course had to have a moment to think about trans awareness day and the thousands of transgender young people who take their own lives every year. The trainer did not provide any documentation to back up that vague figure.

My organisation went full virtue signalling and changed the toilets to unisex, as of course we might upset the hypothetical transgender person who may visit our office. "Luckily" the 2 loos are currently separate from each other and have their own sink, but if the building is developed that may change.

Have you wondered if the issue is your own problem with stereotyping boy and girl things?

Ha ha ha! No I haven't. Because I absolutely don't stereotype

@DpWm no-one thought that she had a development issue because at one point in her life she had short hair. And I had no opinion at all on how short her hair should be.

There's really no point in arguing this further. I knew the girl, the rest of you didn't. Loads of 12 year old girls have short hair, loads play football, loads hang out with boys. All of that, in fact, related to my own daughter. But this girl wasn't one of those girls. And now I'm going to stick to what i said about not discussing her further. She's out there somewhere and I shouldn't be talking about her

All I came on to say was that it's good to keep an open mind, and treat trangender people with respect and consideration.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 03/06/2019 11:01

OP - if you do ask any questions I am certain that most of your colleagues will be thinking the same thing.

OldCrone · 03/06/2019 11:03

All I came on to say was that it's good to keep an open mind

I hope you will do that, saraclara, and read the many thoughtful posts on this board about stereotyping and how transgender ideology affects children as well as women's rights.

The unwillingness of those who support transgender ideology without keeping an open mind is a huge part of the problem.

Please stay and read, even if you don't post.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 03/06/2019 11:05

Saraclara try reading

The Gendered Brain: The new neuroscience that shatters the myth of the female brain by Professor of Neuroscience, Gina Rippon

OldCrone · 03/06/2019 11:05

Sorry, posted some nonsense there. I'll try again.

The closed mindedness of those who unthinkingly support transgender ideology is a huge part of the problem.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 03/06/2019 11:07

All I came on to say was that it's good to keep an open mind, and treat trangender people with respect and consideration.

No it isn’t. You said a lot more than that.

bluebluezoo · 03/06/2019 11:12

Ha ha ha! No I haven't. Because I absolutely don't stereotype

You absolutely will. Subconsciously or not. I very consciously try not to, but I do. It is so ingrained- i catch myself saying “big girls blouse” for example, or complimenting little girls on their pretty dress or lovely hair.

Fwiw i knew a girl exactly as you describe. She grew up to be a perfectly normal lesbian, very happy once she figured it out and felt accepted.

Watch this- people who also say they don’t stereotype..

LizzieSiddal · 03/06/2019 11:15

OP I’d record the training. You then have evidence if they start telling lies about the Equalities Act.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 03/06/2019 11:15

Yes SaraClara you definitely said more than keep an open mind.
You said this is a hornet's nest and that posters are bigots.
You also said something went wrong in her brain when she was in her mother's uterus. You also said, she looked like a boy, thought like a boy.
Had a boys haircut
If that's not gender stereotyping then what the hell is?
Human beings cannot change sex.

eurochick · 03/06/2019 11:27

How sad that a teacher can't see past gender stereotypes.

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/06/2019 11:32

Curbside I'm still laughing. Did they really say babies are told their gender at birth ?
I would have fallen off my chair laughing.

DpWm · 03/06/2019 11:32

YY.
A teacher so entrenched in gender stereotyping she can't even see she's doing it.

saraclara · 03/06/2019 11:33

@eurochick how about actually reading what I posted. I was talking about how this girl chose to use gender stereotypes to define herself.

I don't stereotype remotely. If I had I wouldn't have spent a ton of my life on my daughter's football touchlines.
