Just came across this article, unsigned work was assumed to be by men of the time. Glad that this exhibition is happening.

If anyone is interested there is at least one Instagram devoted to forgotten women artists, and Zing Tsen has published books and a website.

I have to recommend @womensart1 on Twitter - very diverse so there are bound to be artists you love you’ve never heard of.

There was a tiny (one room) exhibition of women artists at my local museum a few years ago. It was absolutely fantastic - beautiful interesting paintings. It made me think why the male art establishment was so keen to keep women artists down. They didn't want to be outshone.

Women's Art on Twitter is a very good resource for this: twitter.com/womensart1?lang=en
