They should go further than that. Please, please, if anyone is in contact with the group can you point them in this direction or send a message.

They should report a homophobic hate crime, committed by the hoaxer. His or her actions were designed to cause alarm to a group with a protected characteristic.

The police have a lead in the crime enquiry (a recording of the call and details of the caller). They also have witnesses (the police officers themselves who established that the caller had lied and weaponised the police).

Get it recorded as a crime or even a hate incident!

Plenty of people have had burglaries in their homes without the police bothering to show up, plenty of women have been sexually harassed without the police giving them the time of day. This wasn't a complaint, as such. This was a piece of 'intelligence' given to the police.

The police were already in the city centre for the Pride March and their purpose was to ensure that the crowd and participants were unobstructed and safe. In that context it was a top priority to investigate whether the group were peaceful protesters or a hate group. They did just that.

@theOtherPamAyres yes, the hoax call could have been about a homophobic group wanting to protest about Pride (unlikely but maybe this happens...?). But the police should have established what the evidence was for the suspicion it was a 'hate group' before visiting a group of lesbians in a cafe. You are absolutely right that the lesbian group should make a complaint to the police about the hoax caller and establish whether the police asked what evidence there was.

One of the men involved has cime forward to brag about it. Were there 'trans kids' there? I didn't see any in the video.

And not this incident only. We need to encourage lesbians to report more incidents of hatred shown towards their protected characteristic.

The victimisation and intimidation of lesbians needs to be recorded in official channels. That way, the likes of Stonewall won't be able to hide behind the lack of reporting.

You certainly don't believe in equality for anyone you don't agree with or like or who has issues like disability, race, sexuality, culture, faith, that get in the way of your agenda, do you? Or for lesbians who don't want to have sex with males. Or for women that want women's rights. Or children who want safeguarding and to be allowed to say no a la the pants campaign.

After Pride’s opening speeches, some men came over to try to get us to leave, when we refused they attempted to cover our banners with transgender flags. A gay man came over to explain that lesbians have no right to oppress transgender women by refusing to have relationships with them. A video of that exchange was recorded and even watching it back I can see a man looming over a woman on a mobility scooter trying to intimidate her. Gay men telling lesbians that they are bigoted to want same-sex relationships. A group of large men telling women to be quiet and capitulate to what men believe is right. Who is oppressing who here?
