This is starting to get some publicity now. Extending from the effect on women prisoners to the effect on schoolgirls, etc.

Apparently nobody has done any risk assessments / equality impact assessments on the impact on women.

I hope the herald picks up on this too. The comments on that Scotsman article are awful! WATM etc

The group said both NHS Lothian and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, had said their understanding was “that the combined protections of the EA and the GRA mean that to preclude transwomen with GRCs from providing female only healthcare would require illegal discrimination and a criminal sharing of information.

Who fucking cares if excluding transwomen in the realm of female healthcare would mean sharing their "past life" and be discriminatory. Their laws are fucked and have elevated transwomen above all women but especially above LB women.

Discrimination is healthy - it is warranted and necessary. Discrimination is not prejudice - they are separate concepts. We discriminate in every facet of our lives and most notably when our safety may be in danger (physical or emotional).

The jump made by so many countries to be "inclusive" of trans people has yet again reduced women to a less-than-human class.

Our place has been made clear - all men's desires/proclivities/perversions preclude women's safety and dignity.

Hopefully the results of studies (all being performed after major damage to women's rights was set in motion) will help women regain their humanity in the eyes of government and 'the elite' for the safety and dignity of all women and girls.

That is a really disturbing and upsetting read. Our most vulnerable women, unable to escape or advocate for themselves and our female first minister does not give one fuck. Shame on you Nicola.

It is disturbing & upsetting, for me when it really drives home how utterly unimportant women are. Just pawns in men's games.

However, Scotland is further down the rabbit hole than England and is now giving us wonderful organisations like the Scotland Women & Girls (did I get that right?) in the article. I hope they are on here. Flowers. Where they lead, we can follow.

I've looked up their website:

There are brilliant grassroots women's organisation up here like forwomen.scot and women and girls in scotland who are doing great work to try and stem the tide of anti women bs that seems to have engulfed the country - all flavours of the political spectrum appear to be dancing the wokey-cokey to prove how progressive we are in Scotland.

The attacks on the rights of women and girls have been going on for a while up here, I feel like we're very much on the back foot, and I pessimistically suspect it will get a lot worse before it gets better but women are really starting to wake up now - the cross section of women (and men) at the Meghan Murphy talk in Glasgow last week was splendid to see and be a part of.

There are groups of women meeting on a regular basis to talk and plan our resistance, and amazing women speaking out and taking action - it really feels like the start of something...

I'm sorry but since when did anyone's "past life" cease to be relevant in terms of risk assessment or safeguarding? It's literally one of the most relevant factors if not the most relevant. Despite protestations to the contrary, they haven't been reborn when they transition and they aren't different people. Like most other days at the moment I find it completely crazy that we're even having these discussions at all.

Are any of you aware of previous threads with info on crime recording/MoJ/prison service processes? I'd really like to understand all of this better. Are they even recording that people are trans when they're arrested and self ID?

I read on Twitter that it is possible to have biological woman as a genuine occupational qualification, surely healthcare would be the perfect place for this to happen.
