People's History Museum want you to share your 'ideas worth fighting for' unless you are one of those pesky women

They have removed an 'Adult Human Female' sticker form their 'protest lab'. Unbelieveable.

They also are misrepresenting the Equality Act 'Any material deemed to show hostility based on disability, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation, will be removed'.

Because quite obviously when it comes to recording people’s history, the word ‘people’ doesn’t include women.

Justhadathought · 31/05/2019 10:36

Send them a letter or an email - addressing more fully your grievance, and your disappointment. They need to be aware, at least.

FloralBunting · 31/05/2019 10:38

I was following a conversation about this where the wokester was insisting that women weren't erased at all by the phrases 'pregnant people' or 'people with vaginas' because it was a given that women were people.

Essentially, you can use the word woman if you mean all the people who 'feel' womanish. If you mean all the people with female body parts which are the basis for their oppression and structural disadvantage, then 'woman' must be subsumed into 'people' with a bit of sleight of hand.

There is no suggestion that 'man' is going to have the same treatment. Intriguing, huh?

Incredible - a protest exhibition eradicating women's protests. But that Twitter thread is awesome!

poorbuthappy · 31/05/2019 12:15

That went so well for them didn't it!

Popchyk · 31/05/2019 12:15

Reminds me of the time a while back when Angelos Sofecleous got no-platformed at a university debate entitled: Is There A Problem With Free Speech on Campus?

Their response is pathetic

That Twitter thread is epic. Some great links too.

SlipperyLizard · 31/05/2019 12:33

How depressing, the statement in response is pathetic.

Anyone know where I can get adult human female stickers? I work in Manchester and could fairly easily go put one, or many, up every day.

I could draw one, of course!

AlunWynsKnee · 31/05/2019 12:37

I like the definition of a Puddleduck.

You couldn't make it up really, a protest museum deciding to remove protests that don't follow an arbitrary approved line.

slug · 31/05/2019 12:41

Stickers available from here

SlipperyLizard · 31/05/2019 12:50

Cheers, have ordered 100. I’m on hols at the moment (but while I can escape work, I can’t escape this rabbit hole) - the furore will have died by the time I’m back, but will be sure to pay them a visit.

RoyalCorgi · 31/05/2019 12:52

Ah, a museum celebrating the history of protest decides to suppress protest...

You couldn't make it up.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 03/06/2019 09:47

This was incredible

Mumminmum · 03/06/2019 18:42

I have sent the museum an email to protest that women are not allowed to protest.

OvaHere · 03/06/2019 20:11

What utterly pathetic capitulation from the museum. Love the twitter pushback though, they now look like total idiots.
