There's a reference to referrals increasing to the Tavistock by almost 4500% for girls and 1200% (blog has the precise figures).
But we know that NHS resources have not really increased in real terms, and absolutely nowhere near this increase in demand. How can any service operate properly in such circumstances? No wonder there are huge waiting lists and children only get 3 assessment appointments. It is really shocking when children are making such life changing decisions, especially if they have mental health problems or autism which might influence their feelings about their gender.
It is actually very politically irresponsible of Penny Mordaunt not to hold the promised inquiry. Shouldn't more staff be whistleblowing too?
