Ben Carson restores women’s rights in homeless shelters

Breitbart.com This is a bit of good news. Ben Carson’s department of housing and urban development has decided to restore single sex spaces for women in homeless shelters amid growing Democratic pressure for women to share their sleeping and bathroom spaces with men who say they have the ‘gender identity’ of a woman.

Moral compromises. You have to be fucking joking. Women have been sexually assaulted because of the moral compromises you have made.

Tribalism is the enemy of thoughtful debate.

I've been watching this board... Another one of the tedious monitors desperate to instruct women in what to say and do. How come we're of such fascination to them?

You don’t understand what tribalism is do you? Nobody here is ‘in league’ with anyone. We happen to agree on this issue, should we pretend otherwise? Why? I’m not a member of any political party and never will be. I’ll agree with parties on some topics and not others. I have no interest in left v right politics and having to choose one party to agree with on all things. It’s very simplistic to think that left=good and right=bad, and it’s also just not true. This board also isn’t just for left wing people, there are all kinds of views represented. The left have let women down in a significant and damaging way that may have long term effects on our rights. Left wing media are also culpable in this erosion of our rights. I have absolutely no loyalty to the left anymore.

I can’t stand Breitbart but when they hire a child rapist as their election agent we can start talking about moral compasses.

The fact that there are shelters of any kind for women is a result of long struggle by the feminists who came before, the same feminists that brought you reproductive rights, the right to job and educational opportunities, and to legal marital rape, even your right to have a credit card not underwritten by a man.

Males are not now entitled to the fruits of that long labour. The male taking of the fruits of female labour is the very definition of patriarchal opppression.

I’ll fight side-by-side with TW for shelters of their own or for safer male shelters. I’ll never support their taking any bed built and set aside for women.

It says the shelter requires them to shower in groups, and it opened its doors to a person who identified themself as a transgender woman who made lewd and sexually inappropriate comments, and leered at them while they were naked.

"This is the biggest fear they bring up, that you're going to have people who may not even be transgender in bathrooms and settings where people are naked and their privacy rights are being violated," said Peter Kapetan, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of the women.

It's horrendous that they've allowed a man into this supposedly women's shelter. A travesty.

But I must ask - who the fuck demands that, "the shelter requires them to shower in groups"? Why are women forced into group showers in the first place, let alone group showers with men?

As to tribalism, news sources, left v. right, I think Towel is right on.

It is HIGHLY insulting to a group of intelligent women capable of independent, critical thought to suggest that we can only obtain our news from "approved" sources.

Possession of a penis is pretty easy to spot, once in showers... so there could be some mitigation there... but somehow it is the women who are punished, removed.

Prior to the showers, I'd have to repeat, most trans do not pass. I don't see the flaw in that reasoning. Unless of course you want me to believe that there are many squillions of trans people around me every day and I don't notice.
