Oh Buck

Recent Buck Angel tweet on the co-opting of Transexual language for Transgender ideology:

"Can you actually change a definition of something that is already is use? Just to fit your needs? That seems selfish."

So little self awareness. I really like Buck on a lot of issues and he's really going all out trying to get the voices of detransitioners heard, but his inability to see the irony here is breath taking. See also ‘My Gender Is Not Your Costume’ on trans people being cross about the snapchat "gender swap" app. But it's ok for them to wear our sex as their costume? How can they seriously not get it?!

There are quite a few voices from the Trans-community now speaking out, It's the Gender believing version of peak transing.

The overall goal at this stage is the same though, the TRA's are doing more harm than good and need to be stopped, it can only be a good thing.
All voices saying that it's wrong are good.

Obviously the view on the basics of what is a woman or a man will differ at the point of "surgery", and having bottom surgery as the marker of what is legally a woman in most cases (with the exception of sport and things) is going to have to happen at some point, but right now this is years away, it's a very slow hill to climb and every voice is helpful.

I sincerely hope not - and will fight it with every democratic power I can.

The marker of what is legally a woman can only ever be genetic. No matter how or how much a person modifies their body they cannot change their sex. 'Woman' is as much a label of sex as 'female' is.

Yes, that is the view of most here.

My Gender is Not Your Costume?

Well, finally. Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Yes, that’s what we (actual) women have been saying all along but now a man’s said it, maybe someone will listen.

The irony is delicious.

DpWm · 19/05/2019 16:26

but now a man’s said it, maybe someone will listen

Just to be pedantic, I am not giving up the word woman without a fight and I would expect the same decency to be shown to men too.
Buck is a transman. Words matter.

SpeckofStardust · 19/05/2019 18:18

Yes, they do matter DpWm so, since we’re being pedantic, and in my own defense, the person who made the comment about gender not being a costume was not Buck but a transwoman Bailey Koffman, as in a biological male aka a man.

thatdamnwoman · 20/05/2019 09:19

Another pedant writes: DpWm wasn't being pedantic, she was correcting your error — an error that endangered your excellent point.

SpeckofStardust · 20/05/2019 12:47

thatdamnwoman but I didn’t make an error that needed to be corrected. Again, there was no error in my post.

DpWm is the one who made the error by assuming Buck Angel made the comment about gender being a costume and therefore thought I meant Buck when I said ‘a man said it’.

But I did not mean Buck Angel. I did not call Buck Angel a man. I didn’t even mention Buck Angel because Buck Angel did NOT make the comment about gender being a costume, someone else, who is not Buck Angel, did.

Bailey Koffman was the person I was calling a man, because that’s what Bailey Koffman is.

Please read the link in the OP.

DpWm · 20/05/2019 19:32

Yeah, sorry everyone, SpeckofStardust was calling a man a man, I got it wrong.
