Labour door knocking for EU elections

Just had a woman from Labour door knocking asking if I’ll vote for them. She also wanted to know if I would do telling.

I explained to her that I’d left the Labour Party ( it’s impossible to actually go, they still keep contacting me).

I explained my Labour background, why I left. We talked about LM and all women shortlists. That I was politically homeless. She listened, said she agreed, that maybe they could get LM out and I could come back? I said it would be a start!

Zero canvassing round here
I was so looking forward to it Grin

it’s impossible to actually go

It's so bloody annoying, isn't it? They ignored all my attempts to formally leave after cancelling my DD. Then, after not taking me off the various mailing lists for six months, I finally got a phone call wondering why I was in arrears.

Absolutely useless.

It’s quite humbling to have —flounced— left and no one noticed.

I left Labour well over 2 years ago and STILL can't get off some of the mailing lists.

Same here. Constant bloody emails from Labour a year after I left.

I’ve had Lib Dems, Greens and Labour canvassing. Only the Lib Dem knew what I was talking about (GRA) and said he agreed with me. I’m going to spoil my vote for the first time in my life. I feel a bit sick about it.

Actually this post made me realise I haven't heard from my local party or the hq for a while! Amazing!

Erm, are they actually GDPR compliant if they are doing that?

ImGenderfree · 19/05/2019 23:44

Just asked DH who covers GDPR (actually got the regs out)

Art 17 GDPR you have the right to have data erased where there it is no longer necessary to keep it as you are no longer a member of the Labour Party. Essentially it’s a right to be forgotten.

Art 22.2 GDPR Also if they are using your information to market to you, you have an absolute right to object at any time and ask them to stop doing so and they have to stop.

Thanks, ImGenderfree, I thought as much.

Labour party, you have so much work to do.
