This has possibly been done before, but I am shocked.

This is utterly depressing. No wonder the laws in the US are so despicable towards women. It's scary.

I think on the Feminist board we can say out loud that there are likely to be Democrat rapists and apologists as well. They might be hiding it better. And not using it as policy. Small mercies

Confused

My point was that being in the democrats doesn’t necessarily make you a nicer person. This was in response to pp’s ‘of course they are all republicans’. I am not American so have no quotes.

Grimbles · 18/05/2019 12:49

I'm sure there are Democrats who think or have even have said similar. Provide the quotes and we will criticise them in the same way we are criticising the Republicans.

I reckon some men (NAMALT, obvs) have an empathy problem with understanding rape because they see it as just an unwanted quickie, no big deal. Especially the sort of rape that's wrongly called 'non-violent'. It's over so quickly for them, no aftermath. And then of course there are the outright misogynists

If you see rape as an unwanted quickie then you are a misogynist. They can't just be excused as lacking in knowledge about this area. There are plenty of accounts from women about the impact of rape that they could read. Ignorance really isn't an excuse. If you can't be bothered to listen to what rape victims say about the impact of rape, yet you still use your position of power to pontificate on how rape is no big deal, then you are a misogynist.

darkskyclearing · 18/05/2019 12:54

Actually, you are still a misogynist even if you don't have a position of power to abuse to denigrate women.

Nikhedonia · 18/05/2019 21:57

There's a fundamental misunderstanding that rape is not about sex. These men obviously think rape is the same as sex and when a woman is raped, there's the option to just "enjoy it" but women choose not to. It's fucking repugnant.

I actually have no words.

Orchidoptic · 19/05/2019 20:24

I stand corrected. I see the democrats are pushing for protection of women’s abortion rights.

It is like we’re going back a few hundred years, to the time when if a woman was raped and became pregnant, she enjoyed it and therefore was not raped.
