Sara Pascoe on The Guilty Feminist

Sara Pascoe has drunk the Kool Aid. Her bit on the Guilty Feminist about how weird cis women are scared of trans women sharing a bathroom with other women.

Long bit about how amazing it is that there are so many sexes, not just a binary, and all of this on a podcast about women in science.

I can only dip into the podcast as discussed in a previous thread Deborah Frances-White enraged me with her TWAW themes.

The first part of the podcast is really good though, talking to two, award winning women in STEM.

Isn't the line of those who have no problem accepting the penis as a female organ when its owner says it is Hmm that that person never was a male, hence the 'gender coercively assigned at birth' stuff?

I honestly think a lot of self-satisfied, achingly woke types believe that gender critical people want people to stick to gender stereotypes. They can't seem to get their heads round the idea that gender stereotypes are a construct and we could get rid of them. Sex is a constant and we have to live with whichever of the two sexes we are. The rest of it is choice, our own or society's. Attaching Lily Maynard's reworking of the neat little graphic about this.

Oops, wrong one. Good graphic anyway ....

Sara Pascoe has struck me, for a long time, as one of those “cool girls” who bang on about preferring the company of men, and how annoying and “bitchy” women are.

Her gags seem to rely on what a cool girl she is, and how she rejects female norms like marriage and kids (bonus points if she can slag off children and people with children).

KarenTheCashRegister · 17/05/2019 08:36

Sara’s biggest problem is that she isn’t particularly funny.

ThePurportedDoctoress · 17/05/2019 08:37

Championing a movement that gives the Yanivs of this world access to girls' loos and pressurises lesbians into accepting ladypenis - now that's really fucking 'weird' if you ask me.
Also, Sara is 37.

NotBadConsidering · 17/05/2019 08:39

Sara Pascoe should be made to drive to Scotland, go to the house of the 10 year old girl that was sexually assaulted by Katie Dolatowski in the toilets of Morrison’s, sit in their living room, look that girl in the eye and tell her she’s just being “weird” for worrying about trans women in women’s/girls’ toilets.

Alternatively, she should just fuck off.

AnyFucker · 17/05/2019 08:41

Never heard of her

Next....

nauticant · 17/05/2019 09:21

I knew nothing about her until she was the guest on My Teenage Diary on Radio 4. That was a very rare episode where I thought "this is unbearable" and turned off.

WhereAreWeNow · 17/05/2019 09:24

Oh no. That's a shame. I quite liked Sara Pascoe. This has put me right off her.

ChattyLion · 17/05/2019 09:40

She lost me at the ‘Guilty’ part because wtf is this ‘guilt’ shite all about?
So I never bothered with her tho I know that she has a big following.
Good for her if things in her world are so lovely and cushioned that she can say TWAW and never actually consider what that means for other women.. but she’s pulling the ladder up behind herself and this is NOT feminism.

ChattyLion · 17/05/2019 09:42

Sorry I posted before I RTFT.

I would have just seconded what NotBadConsidering said. Sad

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 17/05/2019 09:47

Sara Pascoe has drunk the Kool Aid

This is a surprise how?

There’s been a few incidents of Kool Aid slurping on Frankie Boyle’s programme and other appearances she’s made - granted none as candid as this but identifiable nonetheless.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 17/05/2019 09:48

yes what Notbad said

just because a shit thing is unlikely to happen to you it;s not OK to mock other people for worrying about it happening. especially when it has happened and keeps on happening.

Beamur · 17/05/2019 10:20

I went to see TGF show recent (it was pretty good) although there was a mutter from DFW about MN.
I get the impression that they are trying to champion women, but the inclusivity is blinding some of the arguments about choice. Inclusivity at the expense of a woman's right to say no just isn't feminism.
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. DFW is engaging on stage.

OldCrone · 17/05/2019 10:36

That's how it looks to me. Isn't that why the TRAs insist on no debate? They realise that most people would agree with us if it was put like that. I'm pretty astonished that so many people seem convinced that feminists, of all people, want to reinforce gender stereotypes, though. How have the TRAs managed to convince so many people that feminists are fighting for something they've always fought against?

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 17/05/2019 10:38

It's amazing how many people who think woman are unreasonable to not want male people in female spaces never comment about the likes of Yaniv.

notacooldad · 17/05/2019 10:38

Sarah Pascoe does right think partly because she is young and Hip
She is neither.

Like others I’m angry that she’s thinks women who don’t want to share bathrooms with male bodied men, are “weird
💯agree!

(On a side note isn't 'drinking the kool aid' and outdated, inaccurate and also an upsetting turn of phrase for survivors and victims of the massacre? I understood that it was a saying that shouldn't be used anymore)

Outanabout · 17/05/2019 10:44

I've felt guilty e very time I've seen her on anything, for not finding her funny. Thought it was my female conditioning kicking in, the bias that says 'women aren't funny'. It's a relief to realise that I can relax now, and accept that I don't HAVE to think she's funny even though she isn't, if you can follow my garbled thinking.
I'm so fed up of women who claim to be feminists while centering men. They wouldn't be as annoying if they just admitted they want approval from men, and women's opinions and rights are irrelevant to them.

Annasgirl · 17/05/2019 10:45

@OrchidInTheSun 100% with you on this one.

I already had a thread where I wanted to get a refund for the book as the first chapter said CIS women and I realised this woman was no feminist. It is infuriating how she can get so much traction as a representative of women though.

I never understand these women, I compare it to a black person representing the KKK - to would never happen. Yet women who happily promote the ideology of their enemies are lauded. It is only when you do a racial analogy that you see how farcical it is.

Outanabout · 17/05/2019 10:48

'Drinking the kool-aid' is a shorthand that's understood by most people.

Ereshkigal · 17/05/2019 10:57

Yes, it really irritates me that these silly, male pandering cool girls think they're the real feminists and are recognised as such even though they don't actually give much of a crap about other women.

notacooldad · 17/05/2019 11:04

'Drinking the kool-aid' is a shorthand that's understood by most people
So are lot of words and phrases that we wouldn't dream of using now.

Just because it is understood by most people doesn't make it right. Surely everyone on a feminist board knows how powerful language and words are.

SkunkButtRug · 17/05/2019 11:11

Ugh, i can't stand the way she's wheeled out on every comedy panel show as a proper "feminist comic" - her stand up is awful anyway but her shameful insensitivity to other women's problem with TRA agenda just makes her unwatchable now.

buttyblahblah · 17/05/2019 11:22

I think the fact she is used as a public example of a feminist is particularly annoying.

I see what you mean about the Kool Aid, first and last time I have/will use it. Maybe just Sara Pascoe is an arsehole would be better.

Sad but not surprising. I was more surprised and saddened to hear Suzi Ruffles on Richard Herring’s podcast calling Graham Linehan “a transphobic cunt”. Suzi’s till now poked fun at woke liberals.
