From an article in the online site 'patheos' talking about how Florida House Speaker Jose Oliva Calls Pregnant Women ‘Host Bodies’ five times during an interview with CBS Miami.

Host bodies? Like the baby is a parasite? I'm loving how they're keen on biology when it suits. What a bunch if twats.

in order to erase the word woman, you'd need to call the baby a parasite. That's not going to go down well generally, is it?

ILuvBirdsEye · 15/05/2019 08:19

Is it a step up or down from "incubators"?
I can't decide - you see English is my second language. The nuance escapes me. Hmm

KarenTheCashRegister · 15/05/2019 08:23

Hmm, is it better or worse than gestational carriers? 🤔

NewSchoolNewName · 15/05/2019 08:24

That’s a very dehumanising term for pregnant women IMO.

FamilyOfAliens · 15/05/2019 08:25

Interesting how his excuse for using the term “host bodies” is “for the purpose of keeping the discussion dispassionate”.

And yet he calls a foetus a “child”.

MoltenLasagne · 15/05/2019 08:26

Nice and gender neutral too - anyone could just happen to be a host body, it’s just an incredible coincidence that all host bodies until now have been of the female sex.

MoltenLasagne · 15/05/2019 08:27

Yes I’d noticed the word child there too...

AlwaysComingHome · 15/05/2019 08:36

So this is like John Hurt in Alien?

merrymouse · 15/05/2019 08:39

until what time does the host body have veto power over this other life

If he cared about preserving human life he wouldn't be trying to cut back access to medicaid.
