Dear The Times

Why must women be subjected to this?

These articles are a throw back to the time of the dinosaurs.

Both Hunt and Raab are at 'let's show off my stepford wife' complete with kitchen and open cook book in Raab's case.

I thought it was bad enough with Samantha Cameron but now we have competitive showing off of wives as potential leadership accessories.

Why???

New website The Wives of Westminster

www.thewivesofwestminster.com/

Looks amazing. In it we have such articles as 'The Wives Of Westminster Project Is Reaching Out For Equality', 'Wives Of Politicians Are More Than Just Pretty Accessories' and 'Felicity Cornelius-Mercer:”I Feel Valued As A Partner In Work As Well As Life”' in which we can be patronised and framed as second to men whilst simultaneously claiming its all feminist.

I look forward to Husbands of Westminster being a thing. Or husbands and boyfriends (HaBs for short) in general.

The main english political parties seem to advocate different versions of Stepford atm.
I agree RedToothBrush; it's gross, and so are these particular men who use women to sell their crumby political aspirations.

That photo looks like Dominic went down to visit her in the kitchen. The desired effect I suppose.

Johnny Mercer really wants to be leader.

I'd like to see Mercer and the rest of them explain their 'interesting' sources of extra income.

Much more interesting than the poor women who are married to them. Grin

Raab.
"Dominic Raab is a dangerous, anti-feminist ideologue"
He has called for an end to obnoxious “feminist bigotry”, and thinks we’ve already sorted equality – for women anyway – so the real cause of advancement should be men’s rights

Hmm
borntobequiet · 08/05/2019 07:59

I was prepared to like Mercer until I saw him on HIGNFY. Idiot. Now I see he's worst than that.

Lottapianos · 08/05/2019 08:07

Yes born, he was bloody awful on News. And his wife is proud of not being a feminist apparently. Give me strength.....

AncientLights · 08/05/2019 08:53

Cherie Booth, whatever her and Tony Blair's faults were, was a very strong role model in this. I was never in any doubt about who she was as a human being.

woman19 · 08/05/2019 09:29

Brilliant chambers Cherie Booth helped set up: Matrix Churchill. Named after case about the role of the Tory government in arming Iraq.

Splendid lawyer.

Looking forward to the first edition of 'Westminster Husbands' RedToothBrush

How about a problem page, for stressed tory husbands. I thought 'Dear Germaine' might work? Grin

RedToothBrush · 08/05/2019 10:50

I do look at this and think there are a bunch of rather inadequate men in Westminster who need a pretty lady on their arms to distract from the fact they themselves are utterly useless.
