MN have deleted the thread started by Maya - who lost her job for speaking up for women- because it talks about her crowdfunding for legal costs

Here is today's times article on the case https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tax-expert-fired-for-saying-trans-women-aren-t-women-tpqgnm9vj?shareToken=3f12f5cae61c02fd41040eb816fd37b4&wgu=2705255426441557045162977940f0d76fa1&wgexpiry=1564821162&utmmsource=planit&utmmedium=affiliate&utmm_content=22278

labourlist.org/2019/03/rania-ramli-elected-labour-students-chair-as-corbynsceptics-sweep-to-victory/

According to this Lily Madigan is the new Women's officer.

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 10:29

Labour is now a liberal - not a left or socialist - party

I don't think they have clear politics at all. They are a gang. Quite happy to talk about Assange, but crickets on everything else.

MrsBertBibby · 06/05/2019 10:30

Labour List report on the stunning democracy of Labour Students that enabled Madigan to sweep to a landslide victory as national women's officer for Labour Srudents (not the NUS, ffs)

DpWm · 06/05/2019 10:31

Madigan does not represent nor speak for all of the Labour party...
They're basically some sort of Women's Labour Party Person at their university, Goldsmiths.
They'll never be anyone important.

R0wantrees · 06/05/2019 10:33

has become irrelevant, which is why they are now up in the ante. '

Narcissism its about supply, positive or negative.

Article worth reading for anyone who believes they might be dealing with a person (of either sex and any gender identity) demonstrating narcisstic control pattern behaviour & also those unfamiliar with patterns & importance of supply.

'Narcissists, Narcissistic Supply And Sources of Supply'
(extract)
Question:
Could negative input serve as Narcissistic Supply (NS)?

Answer:
Yes, it can. NS includes all forms of attention - both positive and negative: fame, notoriety, adulation, fear, applause, approval. Whenever the narcissist gets attention, positive or negative, whenever he is in the "limelight", it constitutes NS. If he can manipulate people or influence them - positively or negatively - it qualifies as NS.

Even quarrelling with people and confronting them constitute NS. Perhaps not the conflict itself, but the narcissist's ability to influence other people, to make them feel the way he wants, to manipulate them, to make them do something or refrain from doing it - all count as forms of narcissistic supply." Oh. Didn't read the link.
Hang on.
National Women's officer?

But just for this Student wing of the LP right? Not like, the real LP.

DpWm · 06/05/2019 10:36

Ok, ok.
So LM is "National Women's Officer" for Labour Students.

So, fine. Not much to be bothered about in the bigger picture. There probably wasn't much competition.

S1naidSucks · 06/05/2019 10:38

Madigan does not represent nor speak for all of the Labour party

I don’t care if Madigan does not represent nor speak, in your view, for all of the Labour Party! The person, Madigan is being permitted to verbally abuse and insult women, in a typical misogynistic fashion, BY the Labour Party. For as long as the Labour Party continues to not just support, but condone Madigan and other misogynistic Labour Party representatives, they will continue to lose the support of women.

Labour Losing Women, will continue and so it should.

S1naidSucks · 06/05/2019 10:42

Not much to be bothered about in the bigger picture.

A woman’s role has been taken by Madigan, but you don’t think that’s a problem? Seriously? ANY role that has been created by for women is important. It’s the fact that the Labour leader has that attitude that alienates women.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/05/2019 10:42

Labour has had plenty of opportunities to dissociate itself from Madigan's misogyny but has done nothing whatsoever to do so, despite women members in their droves quitting the party and telling them why.
So either they are on side with Madigan or women don't matter enough to even be heard. Either way, it's not good for women Labour supporters.

LangCleg · 06/05/2019 10:44

I don't think they have clear politics at all. They are a gang.

Yes, a definite Woke hierarchy in the activist base. Which is in fundamental conflict with the voting base outside of London. And a leadership that knows it needs both the activists and the non-London voters for any route to power and is trying - and failing, if you ask me - to find a bridge between them.

TheRedBarrows · 06/05/2019 10:52

“I don’t care if Madigan does not represent nor speak, in your view, for all of the Labour Party! This.

This woman’s vote will support Labour on our local level because they are doing a good job in the borough (and are not Corbyn -ites ) but never, ever in a GA again. Unless they have a clear manifesto which they then prove themselves in sticking to.

Michelleoftheresistance · 06/05/2019 10:54

Madigan for me was the end of any shred of remaining credibility for Labour. For the many obvious reasons.

On the plus side, a Chinese proverb I ran across this morning that seems highly apt to Maya and this thread: When sleeping women wake, mountains move.

Popchyk · 06/05/2019 10:55

They seem to specialise in going after working class people in order to get them sacked for the crime of not realising that the middle class white bloke in front of them identifies as a woman.

And Momentum cheering them on.

Madigan is part of the anti-Corbyn faction that runs Labour Students. So they would let them stand on a bag of puppies and rig the vote to win.

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 11:05

The thing that really grates is the complete disregard for human rights. We are supposed to support Assange regardless of his behaviour, (freedom of speech), but attack a woman who expresses an opinion ("Go fuck yourself").

Did Corbyn's vocal followers say much about rape threats to Jess Phillips yesterday?

I don't really understand the ethics of Corbyn's wing of the party any more.

S1naidSucks · 06/05/2019 11:05

When sleeping women wake, mountains move.

I love that proverb, Michelleoftheresistance. Another wonderful one for a tee shirt or poster.

S1naidSucks · 06/05/2019 11:08

I hope you don’t mind, Merrymouse, but I think you left a couple of words out of that last comment. 😉

I don't really understand the lack of ethics of Corbyn's wing of the party any more.

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 11:09

Madigan is part of the anti-Corbyn faction that runs Labour Students.

I saw this in the article but was a bit confused. How are they anti-Corbyn? I was aware from twitter that there seems to been a lot of tension amount Labour students over anti-semitism and EU, but the Labour List article called them 'Blairites'. That seems a bit of a stretch?

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 11:10

"have been a lot of tension among Labour students"

Michelleoftheresistance · 06/05/2019 11:12

The thing that really grates is the complete disregard for human rights

Well let's be clear about this.

TO NOT be transphobic, you must be:

sexist
racist
disablist
homophobic
misogynist
discriminatory on the basis of religion
discriminatory on the basis of belief
anti safeguarding

If you're all those things, you're a jolly good ally. Now who wants to vote for a party embracing all this?

Datun · 06/05/2019 11:36

There is no doubt that the Labour Party's inability to deal with Madigan makes them look either weak and frightened, or complicit.

In terms of Madigan personally, they are a nobody now who managed to raise a total of about £8.99 against Maya's £45k in hours.

Definitely worth challenging labour's attitude to their representatives who tell women to fuck off (and labour's responsibility for oversight and duty of care to young people in their remit).

Definitely not worth wasting any kind of breath over Madigan personally.

RepealTheGRA · 06/05/2019 11:51

Totally agree Datun the problem is not Madigan it’s labours complete failure to deal with him.

They can’t run their party, an election campaign or even a fucking tap. They can never be allowed to run the country in their current incarnation. Which is not acceptable for anyone wanting to vote for a socialist government.
