MN have deleted the thread started by Maya - who lost her job for speaking up for women- because it talks about her crowdfunding for legal costs

Here is today's times article on the case https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tax-expert-fired-for-saying-trans-women-aren-t-women-tpqgnm9vj?shareToken=3f12f5cae61c02fd41040eb816fd37b4&wgu=2705255426441557045162977940f0d76fa1&wgexpiry=1564821162&utmmsource=planit&utmmedium=affiliate&utmm_content=22278

It's wonderful watching the rebirth of a proper women's rights movement smile

Oh yes, Pencils, it really is! ❤️

welshgendercrit · 05/05/2019 21:50

Prawn that summed up today perfectly. I hadn't actually seen it before and loved it.

LesbianMeansSomething · 05/05/2019 22:02

Martina donated and tweeted about the thing.

My heroine growing up and my heroine now. Smile

Just popping back to say I love Mumsnet.

I came back to see if I could figure out how to answer tricky questions about the thing we cannot talk about, but I see it's all under control and they've been answered.

I don't know how the case will go in terms of pre-hearing and/or full merits hearing or how much support I will need, so need to be a bit flexible - any leftover support if there is any can be allocated to another case when it's over.

In terms of timing any hearing won't be till late in the year. I put the claim in to the tribunal back in March. They are supposed to turn it around and send it to the employer quickly, but in practice there is a backlog so it is still in the judge's in-tray. Once it reaches the employer they have 28 days to reply. Then it goes from there.... with more delays for tribunal backlogs. I have been told to expect periods of stress and drama with lots of waiting in between.

Today has been a highlight. It has been amazing to see so much the support. I have so many messages to respond to!

Cuntysnark · 05/05/2019 22:09

Sending you a tonne of support FiredMaya

FloralBunting · 05/05/2019 22:18

I have been told to expect periods of stress and drama with lots of waiting in between.

Sort of like a legal version of a menstrual cycle. Grin

With you all the way xx

VortexofBloggery · 05/05/2019 22:18

Good luck Maya. Donated to and shared the thing. Wine

LangCleg · 05/05/2019 22:38

I'd just like to thank Loon for a stellar four contributions by proxy to um... the first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. Because I am still playing my game.

BlackeyedGruesome · 05/05/2019 22:40

And Medical diagnoses... Two years hear nothing then forms to fill, distribute and return in less than two weeks.

Hoping you have less than a two year with. Hope the waits are not too long and that the stressful bits aren't too bad.

Good luck and thank you for taking it to court.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/05/2019 23:03

Who funds CGD ?

EmpressoftheMundane · 05/05/2019 23:29

I’m filled with admiration for you Maya. You are smart and brave. I donated. I worry about your lost income...most families would struggle.

EmpressoftheMundane · 05/05/2019 23:30

Good question, who does fund CGD?

welshgendercrit · 05/05/2019 23:31

After a very stirring day, 39,700 is a nice round figure to go to bed on. Grin

BettyFloop · 05/05/2019 23:38

Just catching up here and, having rocked out to Annie and Aretha (thanks Prawn - a more fitting song would be hard to find Grin), I'm filled with a proper sense of sisterly solidarity. The feeling started last week with caro's indefatigability in the face of bullying misogyny - and now this.

The rebirth of a proper women's movement - women politically supporting women. Thank you Mumsnet for enabling that on this board Flowers It must be difficult, stressy, infuriating, tiring, frightening, tiresome and a hundred and one other things none of us want to encounter when we go to work - but you're doing it.
It's important and it matters.

Thank you for that link, bettybeans.
Quote from the top of page 5:

2017 HIGHLIGHTS
Increasing the Number of Women Peacekeepers

A higher proportion of women in peacekeeping operations is associated with lower rates of sexual violence by peacekeepers and more sustained peace.

So - how do they propose to define and identify "women", then? Eh?!

MinecraftMother · 06/05/2019 00:23

Although I know this would be very stressful for Maya, I'm excited at the prospect of this being tested before the Court.

A reasoned judgement would be, I think, quite something to read.

Have given my supports and so will my husband tomorrow.

Best of luck x

TimeLady · 06/05/2019 07:23

Interesting report, bettybeans. I spy a Pritzker on the Board of Directors back in 2017. I wonder if that's still the case? Rachel Pritzker's uncle (not a typo) would appear to be Jennifer Pritzker, the 'first transgender billionaire'.

www.insidephilanthropy.com/home/2016/8/23/so-many-pritzkers-so-much-philanthropy-meet-this-top-family.html

Coincidence?

Cwenthryth · 06/05/2019 07:35

Rachel Pritzker is also listed as a funder in the £20k-£100k category

Been interesting watching the furries and the TRA thrashing around claiming this is all a right wing conspiracy.

You didn't know you were all right wing, evangelical, American Christians, did you? I certainly didn't.

If they could only face up to the amount of pissed off women there is, then they might be able to see passed their own issues....

TimeLady · 06/05/2019 08:24

Rachel Pritzker isn't listed under the current Board (or former board members). However, she is still a 'partner':

Lamaha · 06/05/2019 08:36

Well done MN detectives. I spy a nice little project for an investigative journalist here.

Datun · 06/05/2019 08:51

@FiredMaya

Did you know this? About Pritzker and CGD?! They are well known for financially supporting transgenderism, and when you have billions that's fairly significant.

Is this another aspect of regulatory capture?
