MN have deleted the thread started by Maya - who lost her job for speaking up for women- because it talks about her crowdfunding for legal costs

Here is today's times article on the case https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tax-expert-fired-for-saying-trans-women-aren-t-women-tpqgnm9vj?shareToken=3f12f5cae61c02fd41040eb816fd37b4&wgu=2705255426441557045162977940f0d76fa1&wgexpiry=1564821162&utmmsource=planit&utmmedium=affiliate&utmm_content=22278

Sorry you had such a bad day, Floral.

FloralBunting · 05/05/2019 18:21

Awww, thanks for the kind words, wims. Despite the best efforts of someone annoying, though, I do at least still have a job and no need to go to a tribunal. All strength and success to Maya as she stands up to the totalitarian misogyny that would see us silenced for stating uncontroversial provable facts.

Floisme · 05/05/2019 18:26

I know how serious this is, and not only for Maya. But honestly the idea of a think tank - a Think Tank - trying to sack someone for voicing an opinion - and a science based opinion at that, has had me chortling all day. I cannot wait to hear their defence. I wonder if they'll argue 'no debate'.

resisterpersister · 05/05/2019 18:28

50shadesofgreyrock we're not sharing the link or encouraging anyone to do anything. We're talking about wider issues to do with the thing that can't be named e.g. how it demonstrates the strength of feeling out there.

That's perfectly normal on MN - many comments like this have been allowed to stand. If MN don't like it they'll likely start with deleting offending posts, not pulling the whole thread.

The last one was pulled in its entirety, I expect, because the main focus of the thread was the thing that can't be named. It isn't on this one - this one is about her case and relevant info / thoughts.

greenlloon · 05/05/2019 18:39

MN have deleted the thread started by Maya - who lost her job her contract was not renewed not the same

nicenewdusters · 05/05/2019 18:41

I'm appalled that you're going through this Maya, but hugely hopeful that at last some light can be shone on this utter nonsense.

I'm training for a new career and have to literally clamp my mouth shut not to air my views on this subject. I never agree with anything, just maintain a neutral silence. I dislike the person I am whilst I do this, it's at odds with my usual stance. So thank you for speaking up whilst I feel that I can't.

FiredMaya · 05/05/2019 18:43

Thank you everyone for all your support. I have put an update on twitter.

DpWm · 05/05/2019 18:52

loon
her contract was not renewed not the same
As she was midway through a project 2.5 years in, no valid reason given for non-renewal of contract, it has been established that she was sacked and it is the same thing.

resisterpersister · 05/05/2019 18:54

Thank you so much for doing this Maya. I know you important this is.

greenlloon · 05/05/2019 18:55

why has the target gone from 10,000 to 60,000 surely she was told it would cost 10 thousand for legal representation so made that the target what happens to the excess money.
and i said before in the other thread there is no way she wins the case first her contract was not renewed employers can do that
2nd she said she shared drafts with colleagues. that is not appropriate in a work place colleagues should be allowed to focus on their work and
thirdly It must be a belief and not an opinion or viewpoint based on the present state of information available

resisterpersister · 05/05/2019 18:56

Maya's update on Medium

Mumsnet get a mention :)

medium.com/@MForstater/we-broke-the-first-target-in-less-than-a-day-f159f6db8dda

FloralBunting · 05/05/2019 18:59

I am so amused that some cod lawyery AWA types have decided to pitch up with a defence. Crack on, chaps. You've been refuted before, you will be again and I have no doubt whatsoever that women who support women are free to do whatever the fuck they want to with their income without reference or approval from you.

FFTFO.

resisterpersister · 05/05/2019 18:59

greenlloon Hmm

If you read Maya's update you'd know.

Can't be bothered to share it with you myself as you're obviously here to smile and clutch at straws.

she said she shared drafts with colleagues. that is not appropriate in a work place colleagues should be allowed to focus on their work

Seriously?! That's hillarious. You haven't got a clue have you?

resisterpersister · 05/05/2019 19:00

*Obviously here to snipe not smile!

Stupid auto correct!

sackrifice · 05/05/2019 19:03

why has the target gone from 10,000 to 60,000 surely she was told it would cost 10 thousand for legal representation so made that the target what happens to the excess money. and i said before in the other thread there is no way she wins the case first her contract was not renewed employers can do that

a - the target increases automatically once a milestone is hit
b - are you calling Maya a liar? She wouldn't be able to take it to a tribunal if she didn't have a case.

2nd she said she shared drafts with colleagues. that is not appropriate in a work place colleagues should be allowed to focus on their work and You are allowed to share things with colleagues

thirdly It must be a belief and not an opinion or viewpoint based on the present state of information available Biology is not an opinion.

The question is - why are you so upset about this? Do you not think women are allowed their own opinion? Or that they are not entitled to take an employer to tribunal, or perhaps even have a job?

They can't take you to a tribunal if you never leave the kitchen or bedroom AMIRITE?

TalkingintheDark · 05/05/2019 19:03

Maya, you have my utmost respect and admiration. Behind you all the way.

Those comments from HR about your tweets make me so angry. Like others, I find the concept that “TWAW” to be both offensive and exclusionary to women - when male-born people can access single sex spaces/services designated for women, some or even many women are of necessity then excluded from the very spaces/services that were intended for us.

But nobody cares how much women are offended by misogynist transgenderist ideology. Double standard as rock solid as ever.

Actually, I believe the ideology to be not just offensive but downright [emotionally] abusive; it’s staggering and sickening that standing against what I sincerely believe to be actual abuse should be demonised, and the [emotional] abusers rewarded by society, and placed on a pedestal.

As others have said, no one is in danger of losing their job because they promote the damaging untruth that “TWAW”.

Anyway, bloody well done Maya, and best of luck to you - to all of us!

JessicaWakefieldSV · 05/05/2019 19:04

I love that women spending their money the way they want to, to support other women, really irritates certain people. He he Grin

Floisme · 05/05/2019 19:07

In yet more comedy gold, the hard-of-thinking-tank's pinned tweet is about their new online discussion forum, called and I kid you not, 'Debates in Development.'

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 05/05/2019 19:08

what happens to the excess money

What on earth has it got to do with you?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/05/2019 19:09

I feel impelled to post this fierce joyful anthem which sums up today's events:

TalkingintheDark · 05/05/2019 19:10

😂😂😂

Perhaps they were confused and meant “No debates in development”?

TalkingintheDark · 05/05/2019 19:11

That was to Floisme btw

NaturalBornWoman · 05/05/2019 19:11

Adding my support. Great to see how much support has been given so far.

greenlloon · 05/05/2019 19:21

What on earth has it got to do with you?

its a legitimate question when she first made the post target 30,000 she says I am crowdfunding for expenses to pay for legal representation to take this case to employment tribunal, if you read that and saw the target at 30,000 you would think it cost 30,000 to take to employment tribunal. it should of been explained before hand that this did not include a full merits hearing.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 05/05/2019 19:23

greenlloon go and read the update! I might report your posts though because you shouldn’t be referring to the thing we can’t mention.
