I read this one a couple of days ago - Reflections on emerging trends in clinical work with gender diverse children and adolescents, Nastasja M de Graaf, Polly Carmichael, 28/11/18:
journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1359104518812924
It's basically a very long explanation of all the ways in which GIDS and other similar places have no fucking clue about why they are suddenly seeing so many referrals, why the bulk of the new referrals are adolescent girls, what is causing this distress in so many young girls, what the best options are for responding to this distress, how to take into account factors such as ASD and sexual abuse, what the outcomes are for any of them ...
But they're still prescribing off-label puberty blockers and cross sex hormones.
'Something must be done!'
'Here is something, we must do it!'
This is evidence-free medicine inflicted on children with major life-long consequences and it has to stop.
