Huh?

IDontMindAnythingWillDo · 29/04/2019 13:58

Do you mean because she said ‘pregnant person’ and not ‘pregnant woman’? I agree, that is disappointing.

StroppyWoman · 29/04/2019 14:03

I always called myself a pregnant person, because I am an ACTUAL PERSON and not a damned pregnancy, as so many healthcare practitioners seemed to forget.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 29/04/2019 14:04

She retreats Charlotte Clymer a lot, so this doesn’t surprise me

Ameanstreakamilewide · 29/04/2019 14:06

Idontmind - exactly that.

She’s so articulate and intelligent. It’s such a shame that she’s swallowed the Kool Aid.

WhereYouLeftIt · 29/04/2019 17:53

Sometimes on Twitter, I will use certain terms I dislike using because I know that if I use the terms I prefer, then the other party will derail the conversation immediately to pull me up on my phobic language. So I grit my teeth and pursue my point.

Maybe that is what happened here.

I got a fantastic book recently called the autism friendly guide to periods, it really is a wonderful resource... all apart from the bit where it says “person with a uterus” instead of “woman” Hmm I was wondering the same though whereyouleftit - if it’s more out of fear of backlash than anything :( especially if many suddenly trans autistic girls are needing the book, due to still having periods if they aren’t on blockers yet :(

LassOfFyvie · 29/04/2019 18:42

I would probably have said "pregnant person" here. I'm neither particularly gender critical nor particularly pro trans.

"Pregnant person" has a punchy alliteration which fits the tone of her tweet which "pregnant woman" doesn't.

SunsetBeetch · 29/04/2019 19:03

She drank the kool aid quite a qhile ago.

GeordieGenes · 29/04/2019 19:45

It's not just that one Tweet. She definitely believes TWAW.

2BthatUnnoticed · 29/04/2019 21:30

Agree with Lass - I think “pregnant person” fits the tone of the tweet better - I don’t think she meant it in a loaded way.

I don’t know the history though - first time I’ve seen this tweeter!
