Big Wave Women - Meet the Female Surfers Fighting Sexism on the Beaches

From the Sunday Times today. A very interesting read from the Magazine section about the sexism faced by female surfers, and the homophobia faced by lesbians - a champion surfer interviewed lost 3 of her 4 sponsors after coming out in 2008.

These women are doing great work, but it's so grim to read about the attitudes of the men in the sport. I also found it refreshing to have an article about a sport where women in their late 30s and early 40s are still competing professionally.

That's a very interesting article. I used to watch a lot of surfing when I was young. My DF and both DBs were keen. It's a lovely sport to watch, even at an amateur level.

Ironic that the CEO of World Surf League is a female

I wonder what she is doing about it 🤔
