Does anyone know if they've any policies yet around women's issues?
I'm currently politically homeless...

I've been wondering OP. I suspect they're keeping away from such a toxic issue but being long standing MPs will have have been fully groomed into' the most stunning and brave TWAW ever' ideology.
Sorry but I don't reckon they'll dare stand up for women and children in the face of the intimidation and threats they'll face. Few MPs have that level of integrity.

LangCleg · 27/04/2019 09:15

They will be hopeless.

MockerstheFeManist · 27/04/2019 09:18

'New Kind of Politics' my arse. They've fallen at the first hurdle, wouldn't talk to the Libs about a Remain Alliance.

Just a bunch of soon-to-be-deselected timeservers who jumped before they were pushed.

(Or so it looks)

howmanyleftfeet · 27/04/2019 09:20

Are any of them your local MP? Why not go talk to them about it?

PersonaNonGarter · 27/04/2019 09:24

Those guys are hopeless. So hopeless that they’ve been outmanoeuvred by Lib Dem’s. Honestly.

I was quite excited when they got started. But they clearly have zero understanding of how to hit the mood. There’s no way they will pin their colours to the mast on feminism.

Bluestitch · 27/04/2019 09:36

This is one of their MEP candidates. Immediate cries of transphobia from the usual suspects though.

Just had more of a look, apparently she's also dared to retweet GC stuff. Lots of demands that she be immediately deselected for daring to deviate from the accepted dogma. I'll be interested to see how it plays out.

Mumfun · 27/04/2019 09:48

I wrote to Sarah Wollaston as I thought she had a decent handle on biological reality. Know they got the message as had query from assistant if I was in her constituency.

Not surprisingly have not received a reply.

They will be keeping away from this debate. Too much hassle for little gain. Also pretty busy sorting out a whole new party and organisation to be fair

borntobequiet · 27/04/2019 10:39

Currently their focus is on Brexit and the EU elections, which is reasonable. I’m happy to wait and see on other issues. My difficulty is how to vote in local elections, as local LDs are experienced, competent and seem v puzzled by woke type views when expressed by the one or two newer members.

LangCleg · 27/04/2019 14:05

They had 3.500 applicants for 70 candidates and almost all of those chosen were friends or colleagues of the breakaway MP group. What does that tell you?

Also, for the Labour component - it's important to understand the dynamics at the moment between MPs and the post-Corbyn activist base. The activist base supports Corbyn but is Woke. However, the MPs most likely to be Woke - eg Stella Creasy, Wes Streeting et al - are from the right of the party - the bit of the party from whence the Change UK defectors come.

Change UK will not oppose genderism. Not a chance.

Mumfun · 27/04/2019 14:10

Lang how do you know that all were friends, collegues. Where is the information available?

I think Change UK will fudge genderism as much as they can

LangCleg · 27/04/2019 14:31

The recent Times article.

the party largely chose to favour D-list public figures, former MPs and candidates, and those who had personal relationships with the MPs and staff

For example, Angela Smith's husband previously worked for her as a parliamentary research and is now, magically, one of the 70 candidates chosen from those 3.5k application.

placemats · 27/04/2019 14:43

I applied and got a lovely response. The party is keen for me to stand for local elections and as an MP.

I don't mind at all that I wasn't selected, it's a new party after all.

However, I was aware that there wasn't a chance I'd be elected, even if I was chosen and stood.

My vote is going to ChangeUK.

placemats · 27/04/2019 14:44

Oh and the LibDems are Tories in disguise. Always were and always will be.

Penguincake · 27/04/2019 15:00

Chukka is my MP and I wrote to him. Depressingly he replied that giving rights to trans women does not take away rights from other women.
