Have just come across this item in questions to Women &Equalities Dept.
I didn't know about this, did anyone else.

Liz McInnesShadow Minister (Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs)

In the response to the consultation on the Gender Recognition Act 2004, what consideration is being given to the approach of the International Association of Athletics Federations and its use of testosterone levels to determine whether a trans athlete competes in a women’s or a men’s race?

Penny MordauntThe Secretary of State for International Development, Minister for Women and Equalities

The hon. Lady raises an important issue, although it is slightly separate from the very narrow remit of the Gender Recognition Act. Every Department is facing all sorts of issues in relation to trans people, so we have brought together a team of Ministers and officials across Government to make sure that policy is where it needs to be. I have also had separate meetings with the Minister for Sport to discuss both elite and community sport. Many of these decisions, particularly at the elite level, are for sporting bodies to lead on, although there are safety issues as well. I can assure her that these will be ongoing meetings across all Departments and that we will make sure that every Department provides services and support and has the right policies in place for modern times.

I didn't know either. Who are the ministers involved I wonder?

MrsSnippyPants · 26/04/2019 16:09

Ugh, I hate that phrase ‘for modern times’ with the insinuation that anyone who has concerns is simply old fashioned

TeaForDad · 26/04/2019 16:30

Look forward to seeing who is on this and who is behind the curtain... mrs green

Needmoresleep · 26/04/2019 16:33

Tories worried about their electability?

Imnobody4 · 26/04/2019 16:38

Or is this another underhand way of pushing changes through. They are still considering the responses to the GRA consultation. Suspicious.

Michelleoftheresistance · 26/04/2019 16:56

the right policies in place for modern times

In other words, pro men and anti women, which is currently very fashionable.

Off you fuck Pen. Women's rights aren't yours to give away.

MockerstheFeManist · 26/04/2019 16:59

Everything's on hold at moment until the Mayborg is offline.

theOtherPamAyres · 26/04/2019 17:02

Spin, smoke and mirrors.

The Woman's and Equality Department is now part of the Cabinet Office.
The Cabinet Office enables communication and joined-up policy making across departments. Diversity, inclusion, gender-pay, gender-equality, gendered-violence and other misnomered gender-bollocks will be a standing item on an agenda in the interdepartmental meetings.

That doesn't mean that Ministers are sitting down to iron out the unintended consequences of self id. Mordaunt is just describing a routine Cabinet Office meeting.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 26/04/2019 17:06

Regrettably it is likely that the senior individuals in the Civil Service currently removing all sex segregated facilities for staff alongside monitoring women for their expressions when they walk into mixed sex toilets and find a cross dressing male in there etc will no doubt have a stranglehold on all these discussion.
"Oh Minister, think of the brave and stunning middle aged transitioning men - the most vulnerable and oppressed of all groups in society"
"What, Muslim women? Women of other faiths? Sexually abused women? Breastfeeding women? Don't worry, we have a plan to re-educate them out of their transphobia - or we'll just sack them for failing to centre men in their thinking".

Maybe it's time to write to our MPs again??

SirVixofVixHall · 26/04/2019 17:06

Penny Mordaunt, what a traitor to women she is.
I also hate the “for modern times” nonsense. This backward, homophobic and misogynistic trend is not modern, it is as old as the hills. Dressed up in a different frock that’s all.

Imnobody4 · 26/04/2019 17:13

Yes 'modern' rather inclusive seems to be the new buzzword. This sentence appeared in response from my MP. Like it or not, the modern world will present our children with serious questions about gender and identity from an early age
Strange isn't it when theyre taking us back to the 50s.

Penny Mordaunt delivered a speech at a Stonewall Conference today.

You would have expected her to mention all those Ministers beavering away on the Trans Business. Not a sausage. Instead, a lot of empty, banal sentiments and the mention of a transman complaining about the lack of sick leave to facilitate surgery.

Melroses · 26/04/2019 17:20

It looks like a committee for papering over the cracks of the self-id policy - so no one will actually have their neck broken in 'womens' rugby, ie the most blatent obvious issues that hit headlines.

Imnobody4 · 26/04/2019 17:33

theOtherPamAyres
Ugh, that speech is excruciating.

It’s no secret that we meet at a time of great turbulence, many of you are worried about recent events and I don’t seek to convince you today that everything is going according to plan, or that this is quite what we intended or that you can please all of the people all of the time. But what I can do is remind you that we still have much to be proud of.

What's she on about?

Brexit?

Melroses · 26/04/2019 17:42

hmmmmmm???

MilletSentToForceIt · 26/04/2019 17:52

And these will be the same sporting associations taking a lead that are throwing women and girls rights under the water/floor mat - I’m looking at you Swim England and British Gymnastics and probably many more!

cwg1 · 26/04/2019 18:05

My guess is PM means self-ID, before all those pesky women got involved and started with their awful bigotry ie holding meetings, campaigning for women's and girls' rights and selfish things like that.

BogusBollocksCraps · 26/04/2019 18:16

I want to see the the phrase maintaining single sex provision as directed by the Equality Act instead, is that so hard to ask?

Ereshkigal · 26/04/2019 18:54

My guess is PM means self-ID, before all those pesky women got involved and started with their awful bigotry ie holding meetings, campaigning for women's and girls' rights and selfish things like that.

Yes I interpreted it that way, too.

I find that whole speech sinister. It is like a coded way of saying that they will overcome the objections to self-id - that the GEO being taken into the Cabinet Office will ensure that this fight will be at the heart of government. When she says things are not going to plan, what plan is this and who is party to it?

littlbrowndog · 26/04/2019 19:12

Mordaunt not resigned yet. Taking money for a job where she panders to the T. what a waste of space she is

And a disgrace for taking money and not doing her job. Betraying women and girls

QuestaVecchiaCasa · 26/04/2019 19:20

Looks like the woke brigade have been at work in the Child Benefit office:
www.gov.uk/report-changes-child-benefit

Gives advice how you can report your child's change of gender. I know that in some limited circumstances CB can be paid until the "qualifying young person" is 20 and so may be able to obtain a GRC but I feel this is all part of the movement to normalise the idea that children are born in the wrong body. Surely "change of gender" is irrelevant anyway as it won't result in any change in payments. A change of name is all that needs to be reported.

clitherow · 26/04/2019 19:25

My critics have chided at me for saying this, accusing me of being “far too woke for my own good.” But this is not about being woke or pc or trendy. It’s about the margin victory in every endeavour we set our hearts on.

What on earth does she mean by this?

And

Why don’t we harness human spirit and accept and celebrate brave, passionate and loyal people? Because if we do they will repay those that enable them to thrive, and when you do this not only to you recognise their leadership but you become a leader yourself.

almost seems like she is promoting the workplace as cult.

Needmoresleep · 26/04/2019 21:01

Quests, maybe not CB, but it would be important for.social housing where teenagers of different sexes are not expected to share.

Want a move...bring little Johnny along wearing a dress.
