Done, just a click really easy.

FemaleAndLearning · 24/04/2019 23:12

The article has this quote:
"Trans people already had access to changing rooms and toilets guaranteed under the Equality Act 2010. This form is so that people can have their correct name and gender on documents relating to council services such as library cards and council tax bills"
Is this totally misquoting the Equality Act?
If so more education on the Equality act us needed

AverageAvenger · 24/04/2019 23:15

Comments on the Leedslive FB page are mostly depressing.

Leeds is woke central.

Female - it's entirely deliberate. They thought sex ID would go through without anyone noticing like the GRA did. Now they're just trying to pretend it's in place already. They know they're lying

Female
The Equality Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender reassignment, so for example, a person transitioning can’t be sacked from their job. It doesn’t say that anyone proposing to undergo gender reassignment must be treated as the sex they would like to be.

The guidance issued by the Equality and Human Rights Commission seems to envision few circumstances where transwomen with a GRC would be excluded from single-sex services, but that can be done if proportionate and necessary to achieve certain aims, and that only applies to transwomen with a GRC, not any self-identifier. This is why we need to ensure the criteria for getting a GRC are not made flimsier.

At the moment the vote is 55% that acknowledges the risk and 45% that it is only a paperchange. The quotes in the article are so misleading, it implies if you say it is risky you are just being mean and hysterical. Sometimes I really despair and think my daughters have no chance at all.

barelove · 25/04/2019 10:03

Done.

It's now 51 - 49 saying it threatens women only spaces. It needs more of us to vote!

Bumped for all the women and girls of Leeds.

Michelleoftheresistance · 25/04/2019 12:01

This will be fixed, as always, by TRA groups sending out the word and voting over and over again to get the result they want rather than one that is fair, truthful or actually representative.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 25/04/2019 12:12

I may be being slightly thick but I can't see on that link where the voting bit is?

S1naidSucks · 25/04/2019 12:17

Oh thank goodness, I’m not the only one, JustHereWithMyPopcorn. Confused

barelove · 25/04/2019 12:18

You're right JustHereWithMyPopcorn looks like they've just removed it Hmm

Quietlife333 · 25/04/2019 12:20

I can’t see the poll on the article now.

Genderfreelass · 25/04/2019 12:22

It's a very poorly written misleading article. The writer does not seem to know anything about EA2010. This misleading information I think is leading to more people voting 'NO'.

VickyEadie · 25/04/2019 12:24

I'm very opposed to these bloody polls - policy should not be created nor informed by random newspaper-generated votes.

Quietlife333 · 25/04/2019 12:26

Comments on the article are open though.

MeltedEggMum · 25/04/2019 12:32

I reckon the tra's crashed the poll.

I completely agree. I think the public should be given truthful information, such as the suicide statistics being twisted, the fact that people can’t change sex, that men have already taken advantage of being able to pretend to be women in order to attack actual women, that the term cis is just a stupid name being forced on people who are the ‘actual’ sex they were identified as at birth to appease those who want to claim to be the opposite sex to what they actually are, etc etc.

Then it should be put to a uk wide vote.
