Good to see recognition that a woman's boundaries should be respected even though she is engaged in sex work.

Completely agree with this - and IMO there are many more behaviours around consent that constitute rape.

'Sex work - a job just like any other job'. Nah, never has had me convinced, never will.

Good result. Glad to hear someone takes violence against women seriously.

bigcomfypants · 24/04/2019 14:52

Good result, brave woman reporting it.

Imnobody4 · 24/04/2019 15:12

Good result but does it hinge on her website statement.

The type of a man prostituted women are expected to service.

The charges against Julian Assange were based on him doing something similar.

Her status as a sex worker is irrelevant to the crime committed against her, but relevant to her courage in reporting her rapist.

Correct verdict and proper sentence.

Well done to the police who assisted the victim, we need more cops with your commitment to justice for all women, regardless of whether they sell sex or not.

The article doesn't support the headline, he didn't get 12 years for removing a condom. He plain out raped her and threatened violence, and he was "convicted of rape and two counts of assault in relation to the escort." on top of a huge history of violence and threats.

"Hogben threatened her with violence when she resisted him during sex."

"She tried to wriggle away but he told her to stop. He told her he had beaten people up and robbed people."

"He threatened to kill the woman's grandparents when she complained, saying in a message: 'I'm going to have your head smashed in for what you've done to me' and 'I'm gonna kill your grandparents'."

"He pleaded guilty to threatening to destroy property, disclosing private photographs, breaching a restraining order and making a malicious communication in relation to a second female victim."

"After the case, Detective Inspector Kate Lill, of Dorset Police, said: 'Lee Hogben is a dangerous offender who raped and sexually assaulted his frightened victim.'"

He was not jailed for removing a condom.

Silage is right. This is nothing to do with a “breach” of any contract. He’s a violent sex offender. It’s rape all on its own.
